What We Are Looking For

The Manager, Message Center RN is primarily responsible for indirect patient care. This position is responsible for clinical operations of patient care functions in the Message Center, assisting in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of service delivery. Supervising and reviewing all Message Center nursing staff. Must be able to work with all levels of staff. Manager, Message Center RN works under the supervision of the Executive Director, Nursing. Integrates RN nursing processes (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) and management (planning, organizing, directing, and controlling) to provide services and continuity of care for the patient. Utilizes knowledge of basic nursing principles, practices, and ethics to perform duties within the RN Scope of Practice. Performs other duties as requested.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES

  • Responsible for clinical operations of patient care functions in the Message Center, including call queues, triage, in-basket management, and patient education.
  • Knowledgeable and responsible for up-to-date message center processes and procedures.
  • Directly responsible for ensuring compliance and efficiency; provides guidance, support, and training to RN supervisors.
  • Directly responsible for disciplinary actions, counseling, planning, monitoring, and appraising job performance. Ensures workplace safety protocols are followed; investigates employee injuries completes required paperwork and ensures proper policy and procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for the generation of new ideas, workflows, processes, and policies that improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness within the clinic that are in support of departmental and organizational goals.
  • Responsible for identifying and ordering supply and equipment needs.
  • Resolve patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  • Protects patients and staff by initiating and monitoring policies and protocols.
  • Directly responsible for determining an optimal allocation and needs of staff for each department.
  • Responsible for payroll approval, accuracy, and submission of staff timecards and submittal to HR.
  • Responsible for monitoring department call volumes and being able to assist in adjusting as necessary by data and report gathering.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. Master of Science in Nursing/Healthcare Administration preferred.t
  • Licensure/Certification: An active California Registered Nurse (RN) license; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (must be American Heart Association or Red Cross accredited program); valid Driver's License and auto insurance required. As a requirement of this position, you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse. 2+ of management experience working as a charge nurse or lead, experience in outpatient setting preferred.
  • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Proficiency in EMR systems like Epic, advanced computer skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word, as well as the ability to use planning software and spreadsheets for scheduling and data analysis. A typing speed of 40 WPM is needed for efficient data entry, along with accurate copying skills. Effective telephone use is essential for patient communication and care coordination.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Exhibit strong interpersonal abilities to communicate effectively and collaborate with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and interdisciplinary teams. This entails active listening, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and the capacity to build rapport and trust across diverse healthcare environments.
  • Essential Mental Abilities: Possess critical mental faculties to analyze complex medical situations, make informed decisions, and adapt to evolving patient needs. This includes strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
