Job Description

The Manager – Medical Affairs (Oncology) will provide scientific and medical leadership for the Oncology therapy area by developing medical strategies, engaging with key stakeholders, supporting evidence generation, and ensuring ethical and regulatory compliance. The role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support business objectives while maintaining high scientific standards.

Essential Functions

Medical Strategy & Scientific Leadership

  • Develop and execute medical affairs strategies for the Oncology portfolio aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide scientific input for brand planning, lifecycle management, and new product launches.
  • Lead medical planning and scientific initiatives for assigned oncology products.

KOL & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), oncologists, and academic institutions.
  • Lead scientific discussions and address complex medical queries from healthcare professionals.
  • Identify opportunities for collaborative research, advisory boards, and publications.

Medical Education & Scientific Communication

  • Develop, review, and approve scientific content for:
    • Advisory boards
    • CMEs and symposia
    • Training programs
    • Promotional and non-promotional materials
  • Conduct medical and scientific training programs for sales teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

Clinical & Real-World Evidence Generation

  • Support Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS), Post Marketing Surveillance (PMS), and Real-World Evidence (RWE) projects.
  • Provide medical oversight for clinical trials in collaboration with the Clinical Development team.
  • Drive publication planning and execution activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Market Access, and Sales teams.
  • Ensure medical and promotional compliance in line with company SOPs and regulatory guidelines.

Medical Information & Governance

  • Review and approve promotional materials from medical and compliance perspectives.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and scientifically balanced responses to medical information requests.
  • Maintain high ethical standards in all medical interactions and activities.

People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and guide Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) and Medical Advisors, where applicable.
  • Set performance objectives and monitor team performance.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support audits and inspections related to medical affairs activities.
  • Participate in scientific conferences, congresses, and industry meetings.
  • Monitor emerging trends, competitor activities, and advancements in Oncology therapy areas.
  • Contribute to organizational initiatives and process improvements within Medical Affairs.

Education

  • MD / DNB in Pharmacology, Medical Oncology, or Internal Medicine
    OR
  • PharmD / PhD with relevant Oncology experience

Experience

  • 5–8+ years of experience in Medical Affairs.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in the Oncology therapy area.
  • Proven experience in KOL engagement and medical strategy development.
  • Prior team handling experience preferred for managerial roles.
