Job Title: Manager, Materials Procurement

Work Place Flexibility: Hybrid

PURPOSE

This position is responsible for managing the Material Procurement operations team that supplies Entergy’s Power Generation plants. The Materials Procurement operations organization is responsible for procurement and management of safety related and non-safety related material. This position serves as a lead team member of our Procurement & Supply Chain (P&SC) team and the group interfaces with all plant departments including Maintenance, Production, Engineering, Operations, Chemistry, and Project Management, Legal, Taxes, Compliance & others, supporting work management, outage and on-line planning preparation and execution of work.

The manager position is key in providing governance and oversight of all aspects of the materials procurement processes supporting the organization to improve plant performance and equipment reliability ensuring compliance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements. This position manages multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities and ensures the organization has a culture of being proactively engaged, anticipating material needs, solutions and improvement opportunities.

The Manager, Materials Procurement reports to the Senior Manager, Strategic Procurement.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety/Human Performance Ensure the Team always puts safety first. Actively promote strong safety behaviors, utilizing key tools such as Close Call /Good Catch in addition to proactive field visits to review standards and behaviors. Monitoring and influencing Suppliers to proactively identify any safety concerns.
  • Materials and Services Procurement Accountable for excellence in executing procurement of materials services. Drives toward full optimization and utilization of the tiered procurement model and leveraging of Entergy’s full spending power through effective engagement with category management, and the plant contract specialist teams.
  • Leadership Manage a team of procurement specialists focused on material procurement. Act on behalf of P&SC leadership, as required.
  • Outage Support Provide support for emergencies, backshift and outage support as required. Deliver effective communications between plant management and the procurement staff for emergent and outage priorities. Support the Incident Response Organization and associated activities.
  • Performance Management Establish departmental objectives and standards of performance in accordance with defined P&SC objectives and Power Generation site expectations. Actively seek and solicit ideas from staff for continuous improvement.
  • Partnership Accountable for establishing and maintaining healthy and positive stakeholder relationships. This activity includes establishing cross-functional and cross-sector teams with key stakeholders and helping create multi-year demand plans with integrated supply chain solutions.
  • People Leadership Accountable for leverage of P&SC’s Talent Management Strategy to assure the right P&SC talent is recruited, developed, retained, and deployed in line with key business priorities. Mentor and coach staff. This position will lead a team of approx. 5 direct reports and at times additional contractors.
  • Culture At all times the Manager, Material Procurement shall operate with the highest ethical standards and in full compliance with internal controls, policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. Accountable through supply base partners to execute Entergy’s Local Spend objectives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education and experience required of the position

  • Supply Chain degree or bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Engineering, or related discipline and 8+ years of experience in materials/warehousing, purchasing, contracts or project management. In lieu of degree, 12+ years of experience in materials/warehousing, purchasing, contracts or project management.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience and/or equivalent leadership experience; 5 years of nuclear plant experience.

  • Full understanding of all applicable policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of Supply Chain Management fundamentals.
  • Strong knowledge of interfacing departments' processes and priorities.

  • Strong Performance Improvement focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply applicable codes and regulations, including UCC, Contract Law and FERC.

  • Drive other departments, if necessary, to achieve results.
  • Outstanding communication, conflict management and changing management skills.
  • Working knowledge of all required computer systems including knowledge of Inventory, Materials or Contracts computer systems.
  • Ability to manage performance of diverse processes and customers to meet a common vision.
  • Knowledge of MRO materials, receipt inspection activities, warehousing and inventory management practices.
  • Technical understanding of generation principles and operations.
