Übersicht

The Engineering Manager leads the Engineering departments (Process, Design, EIC) and reports to the General Manager.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the work of the engineering team and for providing leadership, support, and strategic focus to ensure that company objectives are achieved.

In this role, the Engineering Manager ensures continuous technical alignment with Project Leaders and Project Managers and actively steers this interface to guarantee consistent engineering standards, quality, and project execution.

The Engineering Manager holds technical authority over all engineers and is responsible for issuing technical directives and setting engineering standards. At the same time, engineers are operationally assigned to projects under the responsibility of the respective Project Leaders and Project Managers, ensuring clear project ownership while maintaining functional governance through Engineering.

Verantwortungsbereiche

  • Functional and disciplinary leadership of the engineering teams, ensuring technical projects are delivered within budget
  • Evaluation of technical feasibility of projects and planning of required resources in collaboration with project managers
  • Responsibility for engineering budgets and project costs, including advising on the most efficient technical and economic solutions (CAPEX and OPEX)
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., ASME, PED) as well as customer and contract requirements, in close cooperation with Sales and Project Management
  • Reviewing, approving, and ensuring the technical accuracy of all critical engineering content, methods, and designs
  • Managing the Engineering Change and Engineering Management of Change (EMOC) processes
  • Planning, monitoring, and ensuring timely delivery of engineering documentation in line with project milestones
  • Driving standardization, product rationalization, and best-practice engineering methods
  • Identifying and implementing cost-reduction opportunities through value engineering and design optimization
  • Developing, mentoring, and coaching engineers and providing regular performance and progress reporting to management

Qualifikationen

  • University degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Process, Electrical, Mechatronics or similar); Master’s degree preferred

  • 8+ years of professional experience in an engineering or project-driven industrial environment, including leadership responsibility

  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards and regulations (e.g. ASME, PED, ISO/EN)

  • Proven experience with Engineering Change / Management of Change (EMOC/MOC) processes

  • Solid background in plant, machinery, or complex project engineering

  • Experience in cost optimization, value engineering, and CAPEX/OPEX evaluations

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and align with Sales and Project Management

  • Strong stakeholder communication and decision-making skills

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

  • High level of accountability, resilience, and results orientation
