- This job is a member of the Maintenance Publications (Mx Pubs) Team within Fleet Engineering and the Integrated Operations Division.
- Responsible for managing a technical organization with tactical and strategic decision making to support the maintenance publications activities of the airline. This job is also responsible for managing efforts to continuously improve the products and processes of the organization.

- Supports the strategic direction of the Senior Manager of Technical Publications for the organization and manages the methods to achieve it
- Manage MXP Pubs supervisors, analysts and specialists in order to implement department requirements
- Ensure compliance with American Airlines policy and programs
- Manage Mx Pubs Internal Manuals and Manuals Standards teams and processes
- Manage Mx Pubs Engine, CMM, and Engineering Library teams and processes
- Lead the effort in development of a new internal manual revision process
- Track projects, assign tasks, develop timelines, and perform risk analysis
- Hold vendors and stakeholder departments accountable for deliverables and report project status to management
- Train and mentor Maintenance Publications team members
- Develop and track departmental performance metrics
- Ensure projects are on track and provide regular updates on commitments made to customers
- Implement compliance actions for Airworthiness Directives (ADs) as needed
- Stay informed on all issue/projects related to Maintenance Publications systems
- Represent American Airlines at industry meetings
- Coordinate requests from Production and other work groups for program changes
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent industry experience
- 5 years airline experience
- Previous project management or management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with various organizational groups (mechanics, multiple management levels, FAA, etc.)
- Ability to effectively lead a remote team across multiple stations
- Ability to travel and visit team members located in TUL and PHX
- Ability to provide off hour, weekend, and holiday support as needed
- Demonstrated knowledge of:
- Airline publications systems, policies and procedures
- Airline operations, Engineering and Quality business processes
- AA Safety Management System and Risk Management Worksheet
- AA Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP)
- Airline publications systems, policies and procedures
- Airworthiness Directives, FARs, FAA policies and STCs
- Original Equipment Manufacturer documentation (Engine Manuals, CMM, etc)
Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
- 5 years of experience in leadership role
- Thorough understanding of AA Policies and Procedures
- Previous Maintenance Programs and Publications or Engineering experience & Quality experience
- Experience with existing airline or aerospace technical data content management systems or other products (Flatirons, Boeing Toolbox, AirnavX, etc.)
- Experience leading represented employees
- Experience working effectively with regulators
- Experience interacting with the FAA
- A&P License
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to manage major projects on schedule
- Demonstrated analytical, technical writing, problem solving, communication, planning and organizational skills
- Demonstrated skills in employee development
- Experience with existing airline or aerospace technical data content management systems or other products (Flatirons, Boeing Toolbox, AirnavX, etc.)
- Knowledge of and experience with airline forecast and planning systems
- Ability to work under pressure
- Must be self-motivated and disciplined in their work ethics
