Job Description

We’re Jetstar. You may know us for our famous low fares, but did you also know that we’ve flown more than 400 million customers since we launched in Australia in 2004? In fact, each week we operate around 3,000 flights to nearly 40 destinations across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Pacific. We also operate a fleet of more than 80 aircraft, including state-of-the-art Airbus A320/21 NEO aircraft and the Airbus A320 family and Boeing 787-8s. Every day we enable more people to takeoff to more places, more often.

Impressive numbers? What's even more impressive is the team of extraordinary people taking off together day in day out, flight after flight.

Our people are the real jet stars!

  • Join us on a 12-month fixed term journey based at our Jetstar Headquarters in Docklands
  • Take off with exclusive employee perks, including our world-class staff travel program

As our new Manager Maintenance Planning, you will lead tactical maintenance planning across multiple airlines, ensuring processes, systems and outputs are delivered compliantly and efficiently. Reporting to the Senior Manager Engineering Operations, you will be accountable for Line and Intermediate Maintenance Planning across the Jetstar fleet, including A Checks, out-of-phase maintenance, defect deferrals and campaign delivery. Working closely with AMO, Fleet Engineering, PIR and Maintenance Programs, you will drive integrated planning outcomes that optimise aircraft availability, safety and cost, while strengthening governance, standardisation and continuous improvement.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading the delivery of short-term maintenance planning and scheduling across Jetstar Engineering
  • Supporting transformation initiatives to enhance planning, scheduling and maintenance vendor engagement across domestic and international operations
  • Leading and developing Lead Line Planners, including oversight of team performance, training, rostering and continuous improvement
  • Overseeing Aircraft Optimisation & Allocation Coordinators (AOAC) to optimise maintenance slot utilisation while minimising operational disruption
  • Acting as the primary interface with customer airlines and third-party maintenance providers
  • Promoting a strong safety culture through incident investigation, OHS engagement and active participation in safety initiatives
  • Driving short-term planning performance, including managing due and overdue tasks, deferral approvals and trends, and fleet deferral reporting to maintain safety and compliance
  • Leading regular operational updates with Jetstar Operations, ensuring alignment on AOGs and emerging risks, and driving improved outcomes across planning and operational teams

Ideally you’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualification or Aircraft Trade Certificate in aviation, engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in tactical planning or leading an operational or planning team
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with a strong focus on coaching and development
  • Sound knowledge of Part 145 / 42 regulatory frameworks
  • Working knowledge of maintenance information systems (MIS), OEM data and Microsoft Office

We’re looking for a confident and credible communicator who can lead change, navigate complexity and solve problems effectively. You will be an experienced aircraft maintenance planner with a genuine passion for leading and developing teams.
