In the business landscape, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) serve as a vital strategy for driving growth and maximising long-term shareholder value by aligning with an organization's overarching objectives. Each facet of M&A has its own unique challenge, and it often takes a diverse team to get the best results on a deal. Deloitte’s M&A business is one of the largest in Australia, advising top tier clients on complex acquisition, merger, divestment and capital market activities. Our team works across a range of sectors including consumer business, financial services, infrastructure, technology, healthcare and real estate.

Technology is key to all M&A transactions and is often the largest source of cost, complexity and effort in separating or integrating organisations. Our Technology M&A team advise and support clients across a wide range of industries in navigating all facets of the M&A lifecycle (transaction/ deal strategy, pre-deal due diligence, as well as integration/separation planning and execution) from a Technology perspective. We help our clients to identify, architect and quantify technology considerations, values and risks during acquisition, integration or separation processes. We also support our clients throughout the end-to-end M&A process from due diligence through to separation or integration.

What will your typical day look like?

As a Manager, you will lead Technology M&A engagements, deliver high-quality client outcomes and support the growth of our practice. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing Technology M&A engagements across the deal lifecycle, from strategy and due diligence to integration or separation planning and execution;
  • Leading client engagements, or critical workstreams within large programs, to design and deliver business and technology solutions in an M&A context;
  • Applying strong knowledge of technology landscapes, vendors and industry dynamics to shape practical, value-focused recommendations;
  • Managing high-quality client deliverables, including due diligence reports, technology strategies, plans, technology designs and business cases;
  • Supporting proposals and pursuit activity, while applying sound judgement and risk awareness;
  • Contributing to practice growth through client account activity, propositions, capability building, training, recruitment and knowledge sharing;
  • Building strong client relationships, including with senior stakeholders; and
  • Leading diverse teams in an inclusive, high-performing environment that supports growth and recognises contribution.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.

You will ideally bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience in technology integration, separation or due diligence in an M&A environment;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences clearly and confidently;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgement in complex, ambiguous situations;
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills;
  • A strong understanding of technology ecosystems and enterprise environments, including applications, infrastructure and dependencies;
  • Experience supporting communications, culture and change across transformation or transaction environments;
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and coordinate delivery across a team;
  • A strong commitment to developing others, with experience coaching and supporting junior team members;
  • Experience leading teams or workstreams in fast-paced client environments;
  • The ability to build consensus and drive change in complex, fast-moving environments;
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience building relationships with senior client stakeholders;
  • Experience applying relevant methodologies, frameworks, standards and tools to support delivery;
  • Knowledge of industry and technology challenges, and the ability to translate them into practical recommendations; and
  • A willingness to travel to client sites, as required.
