
Symetra’s Individual Life Division is seeking a collaborative and results‑driven Manager, Life Underwriting to lead a team supporting our National Marketing Organization (NMO) partners. This role is ideal for an experienced underwriting leader who is passionate about people development, customer experience, and business growth—especially within digital and modern underwriting environments.
About the role
As Manager of Life Underwriting, you will lead and develop a team of underwriters supporting core life insurance products, including Symetra’s award‑winning Swift Digital application process. You’ll balance technical expertise with people leadership, ensuring profitable growth, strong partner relationships, and a high‑quality customer experience.

Compensation
Salary Range: $106,400 - $177,300 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Required Training & Professional Development
All newly hired people leaders with direct reports are required to complete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year. This program includes both virtual and in-person training. The in-person sessions will take place at Symetra’s corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. Symetra covers all travel and accommodation expenses.
