Job Description

Manager IT Applications - Salesforce Platform

Application Management | Salesforce | International Scope

Add Element [E] to your daily formula
At IMCD the Element [E] is yours to explore and enjoy. It is the missing element in the Periodic table of Elements, it is our own X-factor. It allows you to bind your ambitions and skills with emerging markets, innovative solutions, and bold future visions.
Ready to take ownership of a critical part of the application landscape of a leading international trading organisation? Discover the power of Element [E] at IMCD.

Own and lead the Salesforce Platform across a complex, integrated landscape
IMCD's IT organization is continuously evolving, not only in technology, but also in the way it organizes and delivers value to the business. We are restructuring around value streams, working in close partnership with global business process owners to ensure IT is a true driving force in our organization. To support this, our IT organization is built around three clear pillars: technical platforms, business processes, and applications.

As Manager IT Applications – Salesforce Platform, you are a key leader within the applications pillar. You take full IT ownership of one of our most critical and complex business platforms (a multi-cloud Salesforce environment) spanning CRM, Customer Service, CPQ, Digital Channels, and embedded BI, tightly integrated with our ERP, MDM, and broader application landscape. Understanding that broader landscape is what makes you effective in this role.

Your focus is on running, governing, and continuously improving the platform from an IT perspective, while leading a high-performing team of product owners, QA engineers, and technical specialists.

Together you take business requirements through to delivery: clean releases, controlled deployments, and clear ownership of what runs in production. You combine technical insight with delivery discipline, ensuring every change is well understood, carefully managed, and executed with confidence across the full landscape.

You report directly to the Director of IT.

Your responsibilities

  • Take IT ownership of Salesforce: from quality and change control to release and deployment management.
  • Lead, coach, and develop your team of Salesforce professionals.
  • Set clear direction, manage workload and priorities, and create a culture of ownership, quality, and accountability.
  • Maintain a healthy, well-governed platform managing technical debt, platform hygiene, and configuration standards.
  • Drive professional release and deployment management (including regression testing, impact analysis, and deployment governance) ensuring clean releases and cross-system impact assessment before every change lands in production.
  • Control changes by delivering incoming business requirements, releases, and Salesforce Platform updates cleanly across the full application landscape.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Enterprise Architecture to ensure Salesforce aligns with the enterprise architecture, data, and integration strategy.
  • Partner with the Business Transformation and business process teams to ensure smooth handover of delivered solutions into operations, and to provide IT input on feasibility and impact.
  • Maintain thorough, relevant documentation.
  • Ensure the platform complies with internal IT security standards and relevant regulations.
  • Contribute to the wider maturity of our application landscape and the way IT works as one team.

What you bring

  • Strong working knowledge of the Salesforce platform is essential. Multi-cloud experience is a must. Beyond Salesforce, you bring working knowledge of the broader application landscape, including ERP environments (JD Edwards, SAP or similar) and preferably PIM systems (Syndigo, Stibo or similar). You need this breadth to operate effectively in our landscape.
  • A technical background is a must. You have worked hands-on through development and deployment cycles and genuinely understand what a system change does end-to-end across platforms, integrations, and dependencies. You are a cross-system thinker who sees impact beyond a single application.
  • Proven experience in application management, platform ownership, or IT service delivery within a complex, multi-system landscape. You are either already operating at this level or ready to make the step up to leading a team of this scope.
  • You bring proven management experience, or a strong track record as a tech lead or senior product owner where you set direction for others. You lead with a genuine coaching mindset. You bring people along, give trust, and address what needs to be addressed. Structured and process-oriented, you have a sharp eye for risk and improvement.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
  • In possession of a valid EU work permit.

What we offer

  • Real ownership from day one, with the trust and the support to make the role your own.
  • A key position in an IT organization that is genuinely transforming, with the freedom to shape how the role develops.
  • Direct report to the Director of IT, with your own team and visibility at senior level.
  • A leadership team that invests in your growth and development.
  • An inspiring workplace at Kop van Zuid in Rotterdam.
  • International collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders across more than 60 countries.
  • Excellent secondary benefits.
