The Investment Risk & Performance Manager plays a critical role in supporting the governance and oversight of TAL's investment assets. The role is responsible for delivering high-quality investment risk, performance and asset liability management (ALM) reporting to the Board, Asset and Liability Committee (ALCo), Senior Executives and the Investment Management Team.

Through insightful analysis, robust governance processes and effective stakeholder engagement, the role ensures investment risks and performance outcomes are well understood, regulatory obligations are met, and decision-making is supported by timely, accurate and actionable information. The position also drives continuous improvement across reporting systems, data quality, analytics and environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting capabilities.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of investment risk, performance and ALM reporting for the Board, Senior Executives, ALCo and associated governance committees.
  • Provide proactive, insightful and actionable analysis that enables stakeholders to understand current and emerging investment risks, portfolio performance and market developments.
  • Oversee the quality assurance of reporting outputs generated through investment risk systems, ensuring information is accurate, reliable and fit for purpose.
  • Enhance reporting frameworks by identifying and implementing improvements to systems, analytics and stakeholder reporting.
  • Develop and maintain ALM reporting data stores, improving the timeliness, consistency and quality of insights through increased automation and efficiency.
  • Present investment risk, performance and ALM insights to governance forums, executive committees and senior stakeholders.
  • Partner with internal teams including Investment Operations, Risk, Capital, Legal, Finance, IT and Financial Reporting to support investment governance and reporting outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Finance/Investments/Insurance industries and minimum of 5 years in investment risk related roles.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial markets and how it impacts life insurance financial performance
  • Excellent ability to communicate and articulate complex concepts
  • Excellent initiative, in particular with regards to developing new processes and investigating and resolving complex issues
  • Very strong financial modelling experience
  • Strong knowledge of life insurance regulatory capital standards
  • Tertiary qualification in Actuarial studies, Mathematics, Finance or related discipline
  • Actuarial qualification strongly preferred
