Our exceptional people are the key to our unrivaled, inclusive culture and talent experience and our ability to be compelling to our clients. You’ll find an environment that inspires and empowers you to thrive both personally and professionally. There’s no one like you and that’s why there’s nowhere like RSM.

RSM Canada is looking for an International Tax Manager to join our team. This role provides an opportunity to join a specialty area within the firm's rapidly expanding Canadian tax practice, focused on inbound and outbound clients. As a Tax Manager, you will use your expertise to provide international tax consulting and compliance services to entities with foreign investors and cross-border investments. You will also help lead our growth initiatives, develop new business opportunities and work closely with senior staff and the Partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidates must be curious, demonstrate critical thinking skills and have the desire to solve complex problems for our internationally active clients. As you grow, you will develop the analytical skills necessary for the effective identification, development and implementation of solutions to our clients' tax needs. With RSM, you will have tremendous opportunity to develop and pursue creative approaches to solve client issues. Responsibilities include:

  • Owning and driving the success of multiple engagements across different jurisdictions in a dynamic work environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to learn the Income Tax Act, Canadian Income Tax Regulations, CRA rulings and caselaw and how to apply this understanding to complex cross border tax issues.
  • Provide mentorship, detailed reviews and training of staff.
  • Stay alert to client needs that may result in growth opportunities for the firm and communicate to the broader client engagement team.
  • Work with RSM colleagues across different jurisdictions.
  • Promote new ideas, business and tax solutions that result in extended services to existing clients.
  • Develop an understanding of our clients’ business and become a "functional cross border tax expert".

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s’ degree, preferably in Accounting or a related field.
  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years public accounting experience working for a Big 4 or large national, regional or local accounting firm.
  • Requires experience with international tax compliance and consulting, in particular, preparing forms T1134, T2 (Sch 91 returns), surplus computations, FAPI analysis, etc
  • Requires one of the following to be complete, active, and in good standing: CPA, JD or InDepth Tax Program
  • Dynamic problem solver, solid work ethic and strong project management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters of Taxation, Law Degree or Enrolled in CPA Canada In Depth Tax Program.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information and the interpretation of tax laws.
  • Strong project management skillset that can be demonstrated in fast moving, complex cross border engagements.
