We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Manager – Internal Audit to lead and strengthen our internal audit function. In this role, you will oversee risk assessments, evaluate internal controls, and ensure compliance with regulatory and operational standards across the organization. The Manager - Internal Audit, is responsible for the direct oversight of the department including planning, directing and coordinating of departmental operations. He/ She provides technical support to the Group Internal Auditor toward achieving strategic goals and ensures departmental efficiency through the provision of effective methods and strategies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists the Group Head of Internal Audit in managing audit staff engaged in the internal audit assignments and in the planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring of Internal Audit operations, including assisting in hiring, training and evaluating staff; taking corrective actions to address performance problems.

2. Manages the identification and evaluation of the Group’s risk areas and provides major input to the development of the Annual Audit Plan.

3. Manages the performance of audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analysing evidence, and documenting client processes and procedures.

4. Manages the audit staff in conducting interviews, reviewing documents, developing and administering surveys, composing summary memos, preparing working papers, identification, development and documentation of audit issues and recommendations.

5. Monitor and ensure that management actions have been effectively implemented or that senior management and the Board have accepted the risk of not taking action.

6. Lead, motivate, inspire, and encourage employees through effective performance management–setting of clear goals and objectives, ensuring that performance gaps are closed through relevant training, monitoring work performance through continuous performance discussions and timely completion of appraisals.

7. Prepare Audit Committee papers for assigned legal entity for Group Head of Internal Audit review and submission.

8. Support on actioning AC deliverables

9. To perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Group Head of Internal Audit.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• First Degree in Management or related field from a recognized tertiary education institution.

• Certification such as a CIA and ACCA or CPA.

• Postgraduate qualification in a related field is an asset.

• At least seven (7) years of full-time experience in auditing, accounting or project management.

• Three (3) years supervisory or managerial experience, particularly in Internal Audit

• A combination of experience in the Insurance and Financial Services Industries, including asset Management, Trust and Investment Services.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:

As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.

The Manager - Internal Audit, must be hardworking, honest and trustworthy. The incumbent must be a problem-solver and solutions driven. He/ She must be reliable, demonstrate self-motivation and keep up to date on current developments in the industry and audit profession. He/ She must have good communication skills and must be team oriented. Confidentiality is critical to this position. He/ She should be very assertive, must be able to use his/her initiative and must be able to manage resources effectively and efficiently to achieve organizational goals.
