Job Description

We’re looking for a thoughtful, people-centered, and execution-focused Instructional Design Manager to lead learning that helps customers succeed faster. On the Blackbaud University team, you’ll play a key role in shaping how customers learn, adopt, and gain value from Blackbaud products through high-quality digital and live training experiences.
In this role, you’ll lead a team of instructional designers responsible for a portfolio of learning solutions that support product adoption, customer retention, and business scalability. Working closely with partners across Product Development, Customer Support, Professional Services, and Customer Success, you’ll ensure training keeps pace with a SaaS release cadence while continuously improving learner experience, accessibility, and impact. This is an opportunity to grow your leadership career while expanding what’s possible for purpose-driven organizations around the world.
What you'll do
• Set direction for customer education by owning and evolving the learning content strategy across multiple product lines, aligning training to customer outcomes, product roadmaps, and business priorities.
• Lead the full lifecycle of courseware by guiding discovery, design, production, launch, and ongoing maintenance of scalable learning solutions.
• Partner cross-functionally with product, support, customer success, and professional services teams to identify learning needs, prioritize work, and ensure launch readiness for new features and initiatives.
• Develop and empower a high-performing team by coaching instructional designers, supporting career growth, and fostering a culture of inclusion, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
• Build scalable delivery practices by establishing standards, templates, and workflows that improve speed-to-publish while maintaining instructional quality across rapid release cycles.
• Use data to drive impact by defining and tracking success metrics such as learner satisfaction, completion rates, training utilization, and content health, and applying insights to improve adoption and retention.
• Apply responsible AI practices by using AI-enabled tools to accelerate parts of the learning lifecycle, while ensuring human review, privacy protection, accessibility, and brand-aligned quality.
What you'll bring
• 5+ years of experience leading instructional design and digital learning delivery, including interactive eLearning, short-form video, and live online training.
• Proven people management experience with a track record of coaching, developing, and retaining learning professionals.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and modern instructional design practices, paired with experience managing a large or evolving courseware portfolio.
• Experience delivering learning in fast-moving, iterative environments, ideally supporting a SaaS product cadence and frequent releases.
• Hands-on experience collaborating with cross-functional and global teams, with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions, levels, and time zones.
