We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager- INSIGHTS, BUSINESS RISK

In this role, you will:

  • Strengthen the non-financial risk and control environment for CIB by delivering insights, governance reporting, and oversight aligned to the bank’s risk appetite.
  • Be part of the Chief Control Office (CCO) within the CIB Business Risk Capability Office (Bangalore/Hyderabad), supporting First Line of Defence risk management.
  • Provide a technical and functional “overlay” on operational risk and controls—helping evolve consistent, continuous risk management practices.
  • Produce non-financial risk governance papers, minutes, actions, and qualitative analysis to provide clear insight into the Wholesale risk landscape.
  • Monitor progress of outstanding issues/actions, manage reporting exceptions, and support stakeholders to drive timely remediation.
  • Support incident management activities, including root cause analysis (RCA) and validation of continuous monitoring plans.
  • Maintain effective risk profile management through proactive identification of live risks, KRI monitoring, and independent challenge/validation.
  • Drive more proactive risk management through enhanced reporting and analytics, plus simplification/reduction of activity time via automation.
  • Strong capability in Alteryx/Python, Qlik Sense/Power BI, advanced SharePoint (incl. Nintex workflows), advanced Excel/PowerPoint, and VBA; awareness of ML/AI models.
  • Build relationships across Wholesale business and CCO teams, share best practices, and support senior management with insightful risk reporting—individual contributor role promoting HSBC values and a strong risk culture.

To be successful you will:

  • Subject matter expert and strong understanding of non-financial risks, technology & cyber risks and potential mitigating actions, industry / good practices and related risk/control frameworks
  • Good understanding of technology including ETL, Visualization and Reporting, regulatory landscape, and information security risk/control disciplines
  • Sound and in-depth knowledge of the operational risk & control environment and disciplines. Strong analytical skills especially with regards to understanding business risk, processes, procedures, and operational controls
  • Good understanding of the Group’s Non-Financial Risk Framework. A sound knowledge of the Group, Wholesale businesses, including products, services, systems & processes.
  • Highly developed communication, presentation and influencing skills set. Ability to prioritize and work independently under pressure within a team environment.
  • Ability to use strong judgmental skills to identify and resolve complex problems whilst adhering to timelines and quality. A degree in banking / financial / management / business administration / accounting exposure.
  • Risk professional with at least 3-7 years’ combined experience in Banking Operations/Back Office Operations, Regulatory Reporting, Compliance, or Internal Audit in a banking environment.
  • Preferably 3-5 years of risk & control experience – e.g. 2LOD / 1LOD operational risk, with a focus on non-financial risk. Performance of risk and controls assessments related to information technology and information security.
  • 2-3 years of relative experience in using ETL and Visualization tools. Knowledge of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence tools is preferred.
