The Information Technology Manager is responsible for managing the operations of the Information Technology Departments. Responsible for identifying opportunities, overseeing and coordinating new system installations, upgrades, enhancements, problem resolution and ongoing support for applications assigned to the group. Manages subordinates to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of application support. Develops and manages an application/project plan coordinating multiple project activities and resources as well as the day–to–day work management of staff; and performs other related duties as required or directed.
Manages human resources to assure quality services and promotes positive employee relations.
Optimizes group performance given multiple competing demands on limited resources and recommends creative ways of using institutional resources.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of clinical/business practices sufficient to ensure appropriate systems solutions are identified, developed, installed and administered.
Maintains a level of operational excellence throughout the group; assures the department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards.
Effectively plans for and manages all assigned application projects.
Maintains appropriate relationships between the organization and application vendors.
Ensures effective and appropriate utilization of application data through policy, procedures and training.
Manages the Change Control process for applications assigned to the team.
Is responsible for the fiscal management of the department; assures proper utilization of the organization’s financial resources.
Attains all agreed-to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization’s overall mission.
Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job–related hazards.
Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department team, both inter- and intra-departmentally, to facilitate the department's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Master’s degree preferred.
One to three years of information technology management experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Three to five years of information technology experience (preferably in healthcare) including application development, application support and change control.
