Responsible for managing daily operations of the Infection Prevention Program at their assigned site. This position supervises the Infection Preventionists and facilitates initiatives to ensure successful implementation of the infection prevention program to reduce healthcare-associated infections, improve patient outcomes, and foster a culture of safety.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Administration, Nursing or Public Health or Health Science related field or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Three years' of healthcare experience: Required
  • Two years' experience in infection prevention: Required
  • One year leadership experience: Required

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC): Required

Essential Functions:

  • Manages daily operations of the infection prevention program. Conducts new IP orientation for the markets. Mentors and supervises Infection Preventionists. Conducts ongoing assessment of the infection prevention program. Monitors and evaluates performance of infection preventionist. Aligns IPC program goals with organizational goals and system strategic priorities. Facilitate achievement and sustainment of IPC targets.
  • Leads the IP team in identification of infection risks, implementation of interventions and mitigation of risks. Conducts risk assessment, develops, implements and maintains infection prevention plan and goals for the organization. Ensures timely HAI event review, communicaton of findings, and corrective action follow-up. Responsible for IP committee reports and sharing HAI data with key stakeholders. Leads cluster and outbreak investigation and interventions to contain transmission. Conducts rounds with IPs in all inpatient and outpatient care areas to ensure successful implementation of IPC program. Assists IPs in preparing training materials for all healthcare personnel pertaining to Infection Prevention, including competency-based training . Prepares IP reports for local executive leadership . Plans for IP coverage in collaboration with IPs to provide IP related support to frontline staff after hours and weekends.
  • Facilitates performance improvement projects related to infectious diseases and healthcare-associated infections, under direction of Infection Prevention Director. Monitors project outcomes and ensure sustainability of improvements.
  • Supports implementation and compliance with Infection Control Accreditation Standards, Centers for Medicaid/Medicare (CMS) Infection Control Conditions of Participation and other state and federal regulations pertaining to Infection prevention and control. Conducts site assessments to ensure survey preparedness and readiness related to infection prevention. Collaborate with Accreditation and Regulatory team.
  • Leads the implementation of an IPC team comprised of dedicated stewards and accountable individuals with the potential to produce meaningful change within infection prevention practice.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
