Job Description

The Manager, Indirect Spend leads the development and execution of strategic category plans and sourcing initiatives across assigned Indirect Spend categories. This role partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver effective, transparent sourcing processes and develop strategies that support business needs and enterprise objectives.

This position delivers value through strategic supplier partnerships, data-driven insights, innovation, and risk mitigation, driving cost efficiency, service performance, resilience, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) improvement. The manager will own category strategies, optimize Spend Under Management (SUM), enhance supplier performance, and support business growth across a multi-business, acquisitive environment.

This role manages centralized supplier relationships, ensures compliance with contractual, regulatory, and policy requirements, and serves as a key member of the Procurement organization. The manager will provide mentorship and guidance to the procurement professionals and contribute to the continued maturation and scalability of the Procurement function. This position reports to the Sr. Director, Global Strategic Sourcing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Strategic Sourcing

• Develop, lead, and execute complex sourcing events across assigned Indirect categories, leveraging spend data, market intelligence, and business requirements

• Partner with senior leaders and functional stakeholders to ensure sourcing strategies, competitive events, and negotiations are aligned with business priorities and timelines

• Build and manage a robust opportunity pipeline, delivering cost savings and value creation to meet or exceed established targets

• Develop bid materials for RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and other sourcing strategies as appropriate

• Lead sourcing events through defined milestones, ensuring ethical, transparent, and compliant execution

• Develop negotiation strategies and lead high-impact negotiations that balance cost, service, quality, and risk

• Negotiate and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including MSAs, NDAs, SOWs, purchase orders, pricing schedules, and related contractual documents

• Ensure contracts reflect business requirements, mitigate risk, and incorporate Total Cost of Ownership considerations

• Develop and execute change management plans to support supplier transitions, process changes, and sourcing outcomes while minimizing disruption

• Manage the full contract lifecycle in partnership with Legal and business stakeholders

Data-Driven Category Strategy Development

• Serve as a trusted advisor to category stakeholders, providing strategic guidance and sourcing insight

• Maintain market intelligence related to supply base dynamics, pricing trends, and cost drivers within assigned categories

• Perform spend, supplier, and demand analysis to identify sourcing opportunities and inform category strategies

• Regularly communicate category insights, performance updates, and recommendations to stakeholders

• Identify key cost drivers and develop strategies to influence and manage them effectively

• Proactively identify supplier and category risks and develop mitigation strategies, including business continuity planning

• Leverage analytics, reporting, automation, and emerging AI-enabled tools to evaluate financial impact, support decision-making, and forecast sourcing outcomes

Procurement Processes & Governance

• Proactively manage procurement processes in alignment with agreed timelines and stakeholder expectations

• Ensure compliance with corporate procurement policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards

• Operate within a governance framework that promotes transparency, ethical sourcing, and risk mitigation

• Reinforce standard use of procurement tools, processes, and policies across the organization

• Effectively utilize available procurement technologies, ERP systems, analytics platforms, and SaaS tools

• Drive utilization of preferred suppliers and established sourcing agreements

• Provide financial transparency related to purchasing commitments, forecasted savings, and realized results

• Support and advance procurement programs related to sustainability, supplier diversity, and continuous improvement

Supplier Relationships

• Manage and develop strategic supplier relationships within assigned categories

• Establish and mature Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) practices, including joint business planning with critical suppliers

• Monitor supplier performance using KPIs, scorecards, and contract compliance reviews

• Address supplier performance issues in collaboration with internal stakeholders and suppliers

Leadership & Transformation

• Serve as a leader within the Procurement organization, providing mentorship, coaching, and guidance to procurement professionals

• Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth

• Demonstrated ability to lead procurement transformation initiatives, including the design and implementation of new processes, operating models, and ways of working

• Ability to operate effectively in environments with limited structure, incomplete data, or disparate systems while driving measurable outcomes

• Experience building and scaling procurement capabilities in growing or acquisitive organizations, including integration of new tools, systems, processes, and teams

• Ability to create pragmatic frameworks for onboarding and integrating newly acquired businesses into standardized procurement processes and governance models

• Proven capability to drive change through influence, stakeholder alignment, and disciplined execution rather than reliance on tools alone

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS

An individual qualified for this job must have and maintain the following qualifications:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Experience

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or procurement within a mid-to-large organization

• Experience managing Indirect spend categories such as operations, logistics, facilities, corporate services, IT, or professional services

• Minimum of 3 years of experience leading, mentoring, or developing procurement professionals

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) preferred

• Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) preferred

Software / Technical Skills

• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• eProcurement, contracting, and vendor management platforms

• ERP, Qlik, Power BI, and SaaS analytics experience

• Spend analytics, reporting, and dashboarding tools

Other Skills & Abilities

• Deep understanding of the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, policies, and governance
