Job Description

The Manager I, Extractions, is responsible for leading and coordinating laboratory staff and operations within the Extractions area to ensure efficient and compliant workflow. This role focuses on driving performance in quality, timeliness, and throughput by effectively managing personnel, equipment, and processes. The position supports continuous improvement and the development of team capabilities while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, operating under the guidance of senior management.

Team Leadership & Talent Development:

Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team by selecting, training, mentoring, and evaluating staff in collaboration with management.

  • Operational Performance & Delivery:
  • Drive team performance to meet production targets and turnaround time goals while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives.
  • Resource & Workflow Management:
  • Coordinate resources within the team and across departments/laboratories to optimize workflow and support production and development priorities.
  • Technical Leadership:
  • Provide technical oversight of group operations, including assigning priorities, guiding problem-solving efforts, and supporting troubleshooting and resolution of complex issues.
  • Equipment & Lab Operations:
  • Ensure all instruments and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated, and that laboratory operations run efficiently and compliantly
  • Documentation & Compliance:
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date documentation to support operational, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Communication:
  • Facilitate effective communication across shifts, labs, and programs to ensure alignment, timely updates, and Issue resolution
  • Financial Contribution:
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and responsible resource allocation for the group.
  • Additional Responsibilities:

    Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs and organizational goals.

  • 4 year Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years plus of laboratory experience plus a minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong management and organizational skills.
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of, and experience with, laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Knowledge of specific methods and Standards for the area.
