Statement
The Manager of Human Rights is responsible for developing and implementing The Hershey Company's human rights strategy across its global operations and supply chain. This role leads enterprise-wide human rights due and environmental diligence (HREDD), human rights disclosures and rater ranker surveys, ensures compliance with relevant regulations, provides expert advisory services to leadership, and engages with external stakeholders to advance the company's human rights agenda. This role also leads Hershey’s living wage and income agenda along with the company’s work to improve the financial resilience of farmers and workers in prioritized agricultural supply chains. Reporting to the Head of Sustainability & ESG, this position plays a critical role in identifying and mitigating human rights risks while driving continuous improvement of Hershey's human rights programs and initiatives and reporting.

This role centers on advancing corporate sustainability by applying specialized expertise in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas. The individual acts as a subject matter expert, conducting thorough research and analysis to support sustainability programs and ensure regulatory compliance. Collaborating closely with business stakeholders, the role aligns initiatives with strategic ESG objectives, establishes relevant metrics, and drives performance improvements. Serving as a trusted advisor and thought partner, the position influences internal and external partners through strategic communication. It requires independent problem-solving of complex challenges, continuous monitoring of emerging trends and regulations, and adaptation of sustainability strategies to maintain alignment with evolving standards.
1. Conduct Sustainability Research
The role conducts comprehensive research and analysis to support corporate sustainability and ESG programs. It gathers data from multiple sources to inform decision-making. This research enables evidence-based program development.
2. Monitor Sustainability Trends
The role monitors trends in sustainability including climate, water, nature, biodiversity, human rights, and sustainable sourcing. It tracks regulatory developments and emerging practices. This monitoring ensures organizational awareness.
3. Coordinate ESG Engagement
The role coordinates engagement on ESG topics with internal stakeholders. It facilitates communication and alignment across functions. This coordination ensures consistent program execution.
4. Evaluate Program Effectiveness
The role evaluates and improves the effectiveness of ESG programs by developing impact evaluation approaches. It assesses ratings, standards, and regulatory compliance. This evaluation drives continuous improvement.
5. Adapt Sustainability Strategies
The role adapts sustainability strategies based on emerging trends, regulations, and stakeholder feedback. It recommends adjustments to program approaches. This adaptability ensures organizational responsiveness.
