Job Description

Meta is seeking an experienced capacity engineering leader to oversee hardware capacity planning for network and data center equipment across Meta's global infrastructure. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for forecasting, supply planning, and supply management of network switches, routers, optical transport systems, and data center hardware at hyperscale. You will partner with network engineering, data center operations, supply chain, and finance to ensure Meta's infrastructure can support the compute and connectivity demands of billions of users across products including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Reality Labs.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of capacity planning engineers focused on network and data center hardware, setting team direction, priorities, and operational cadence

  • Own multi-year capacity demand forecasting models for network and data center equipment, incorporating traffic growth projections, hardware refresh cycles, and new product launches
  • Drive strategic planning for network hardware procurement including switches, routers, optical interconnects, and ancillary data center equipment across global points of presence
  • Partner with network engineering and data center design teams to translate infrastructure architecture decisions into hardware capacity requirements and procurement timelines
  • Collaborate with supply chain and vendor management teams to mitigate hardware supply risk, manage lead times, and optimize inventory positioning across global regions
  • Develop and maintain capacity planning frameworks, tooling, and methodologies that improve forecast accuracy and reduce capital expenditure waste
  • Present capacity outlooks, investment recommendations, and risk assessments to senior leadership and finance stakeholders
  • Define and track key capacity health metrics including utilization rates, headroom thresholds, and procurement cycle adherence across the network and data center hardware portfolio
  • Identify systemic gaps in capacity planning processes and lead cross-functional initiatives to improve planning efficiency and infrastructure reliability
  • Coordinate with program management and construction teams to align hardware delivery schedules with data center build and network expansion timelines

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in capacity planning, network infrastructure planning, or data center hardware engineering

  • 5+ years of experience managing engineering or technical planning teams, including hiring, performance management, and organizational development
  • Experience with demand forecasting and capacity modeling for large-scale network or data center hardware portfolios including switches, routers, or optical transport equipment
  • Experience partnering with supply chain, finance, and infrastructure engineering teams to drive hardware procurement and lifecycle planning decisions
  • Experience communicating infrastructure investment strategies and capacity risk assessments to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders Experience building or scaling capacity planning tooling, automation, or data pipelines to support large hardware portfolios
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Familiarity with network hardware vendor ecosystems including merchant silicon platforms, optical networking, and spine-leaf data center architectures
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Background in capital expenditure planning, hardware total cost of ownership modeling, or infrastructure financial analysis
  • Experience leading capacity planning at hyperscale infrastructure organizations with global data center and network footprints
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
