Job Description

The position

The Governmental Affairs Manager shapes our engagement in the Swiss healthcare and policy environment to enable broad and timely patient access to medical innovation. You build and steward relationships with authorities, policymakers, think tanks and industry bodies, track political and regulatory developments, and translate insights into clear recommendations and advocacy initiatives in support of Healthcare Affairs and Market Access.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Define and deliver the Governmental Affairs strategy and action plan for Boehringer Ingelheim Switzerland, aligned with regional/global priorities
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key Swiss stakeholders like authorities, policymakers, think tanks, healthcare organizations
  • Represent the company in industry associations and contribute to shaping healthcare policy
  • Monitor Swiss political and regulatory developments and translate them into recommendations and advocacy approaches
  • Partner with Healthcare Affairs, Market Access and Communications

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Political Science, Economics, Public Health/Medicine); MBA / Public Affairs / Health Policy training is a plus
  • 5+ years’ experience in healthcare policy/governmental affairs/public administration/pharma or consulting, with proven advocacy and stakeholder management in Switzerland
  • Able to influence at national and cantonal level; strong negotiation skills and a trust-based, partnership mindset
  • Fluent German, French and English (Italian a plus); high integrity and compliance mindset; office-based with regular travel (CH and occasional EU)
