Job Description

About Us

At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

About the Role

This role plays a key part in shaping how non-financial risk is governed, understood and managed across ANZ's Corporate Enablement functions. As Manager, Governance & Reporting, you will be responsible for aggregating risk insights, coordinating risk assessment activities, and supporting senior business leaders to make informed, risk-aware decisions. Working across a broad range of risk themes, you'll bring together risk, control and assurance perspectives to provide a clear view of the risk environment and ensure emerging issues are identified, understood and appropriately escalated.

You'll partner closely with business leaders, Centres of Excellence (COEs), Controls Testing and assurance teams to strengthen governance outcomes, support regulatory change, oversee event and issue management activities, and continuously improve risk reporting and decision-making across the division. The role also provides leadership and coaching to more junior team members, helping build capability across the broader risk function

Banking is changing and we're changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you'll be building your future while helping to build ours.

Role Type: Permanent
Role Location: Melbourne or Brisbane
Work Hours: Full Time

What will your day look like?

What you'll be doing:

• Partnering with senior stakeholders to provide insights on the risk and control environment and support effective risk-based decision making.
• Managing risk profile activities across business units and value chains, ensuring risks, controls and risk appetite positions are clearly understood.
• Coordinating inputs from risk Centres of Excellence, Controls Testing and business teams to develop integrated risk profiles and reporting.
• Designing and improving governance processes, reporting frameworks, dashboards and risk forums to drive meaningful risk conversations.
• Supporting regulatory change initiatives by coordinating impact assessments, action plans and delivery tracking.
• Leading root cause analysis, deep dives and lessons learned activities arising from events and issues.
• Monitoring emerging risks, trends and control weaknesses and ensuring material matters are appropriately escalated.
• Preparing high-quality governance reporting, executive insights and committee materials.
• Building strong relationships across Line 1, Line 2 and assurance stakeholders to support effective risk management outcomes.
• Coaching and supporting team members to build capability in risk analysis, storytelling and executive reporting

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Strong experience in risk management, governance, controls, audit or assurance within a complex organisation.
• Sound understanding of non-financial risk frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, control environments and assurance concepts.
• Experience aggregating and synthesising complex risk information into practical and actionable insights.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, particularly when working with senior business leaders.
• Experience supporting governance forums, preparing executive-level reporting and communicating risk themes clearly.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the judgement to identify emerging and systemic risks.
• Experience supporting regulatory change, issue management, remediation activities or similar risk initiatives.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate inputs across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Passion for continuous improvement and lifting risk capability through coaching and collaboration.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, finance, risk or a related discipline are highly regarded.
