Cochlear’s mission is to help people hear and be heard. As the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, Cochlear is dedicated to helping people with moderate to profound hearing loss experience a world full of sound. We aim to transform the way people understand and treat hearing loss and innovate to connect people with future technologies. Our employees tell us that the number one reason they enjoy working for Cochlear is the opportunity to make a difference to people’s lives. Learn and grow with us as we tackle the most complex challenges in helping more people to experience a lifetime of hearing.

Cochlear has an opportunity for a full-time Manager Global Market Access – Commercial Access based in our Sydney office.

This role has a strong commercial access orientation, focusing on how payer systems, reimbursement pathways, funding opportunities and market access dynamics can be translated into practical recommendations that support launch readiness, market adoption and commercial planning across international markets.

Working within the Global Market Access team, you will contribute to and lead defined market access workstreams, conducting market access assessments, evaluating reimbursement and funding opportunities, and generating payer insights that help inform access approaches for Cochlear solutions and services. You will assess reimbursement environments, funding routes, coding considerations and market-level dynamics to identify opportunities, constraints and commercially relevant implications that may affect adoption across different healthcare systems.

You will also develop practical market access tools and payer-facing materials that regional and country teams can adapt to support reimbursement execution, funding discussions and access-related activities within their markets. Working closely with colleagues across Commercial, Regional, Clinical and Market Development teams, you will help ensure market access considerations are appropriately reflected in launch planning and market adoption activities.

Success in this role requires strong market access expertise, commercial awareness, analytical capability and the ability to translate complex payer and reimbursement insights into practical, actionable outputs that support business priorities in a global environment.

What makes this opportunity unique?

This role offers the opportunity to influence global access to innovative hearing solutions by shaping reimbursement and funding strategies across multiple international markets. You'll work at the intersection of market access and commercial strategy, partnering with cross-functional teams to help drive adoption of technologies that meaningfully improve people's lives. The position provides exposure to global product launches, payer engagement strategies and commercial planning initiatives that have a direct impact on patient access worldwide.

About You. As we grow our operations, we are looking for people who share our passion for delivering quality hearing solutions to our customers. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Degree in a scientific discipline, health economics, healthcare management, public health or a related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in market access roles within the medtech or pharmaceutical sector.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a global market access environment.
  • Strong understanding of payer systems, reimbursement pathways, coding requirements and funding models.
  • Experience conducting market access assessments, payer research and reimbursement feasibility analyses.
  • Proven ability to translate market access insights into practical commercial recommendations.
  • Experience working effectively within complex global matrix organisations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and presentation skills.

Ideal:

  • Experience with funding innovation, alternative funding mechanisms or value-based procurement models.
  • Exposure to external stakeholder engagement, including payers, reimbursement bodies or HTA-related organisations.
  • Experience supporting global commercial product launches.
  • Knowledge of service-related funding approaches and market-specific access models.
  • Experience developing payer-facing value propositions and access narratives.

About Cochlear

Hear now. And always

As the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, at Cochlear (ASX: COH) we are committed to our mission to help people hear and be heard. Our story started more than four decades ago when Professor Graeme Clark pioneered the world's first multi-channel cochlear implant and created an entirely new treatment for hearing loss.

Since our formation in 1981, we continue Professor Clark’s work to help people with moderate to profound hearing loss experience a life full of hearing.

We have provided more than 650,000 implantable devices. Each recipient helps form a global community of millions, through families, friends, colleagues, teachers and more. And they’re not just connected to their own community — each shares a link with each other and to Professor Clark’s childhood desire to help people hear.

We aim to give people the best lifelong hearing experience and access to innovative future technologies. We understand the privilege of connecting people to a life lived with hearing. And we listen, respond and move with the times – to continue to bring hearing within reach of all those who need it.

That's how we live our mission every day. Our global workforce of more than 4,000 people shares a collective determination to give more people the opportunity to enjoy a life of hearing.

Cochlear’s global headquarters are on the campus of Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia with regional headquarters in Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas. Through our offices in over 180 countries we help people of all ages to hear.
