Job Description

As the Manager, Global Estimating Excellence, you will lead the tools, processes, governance, compliance, and knowledge management practices that support estimating operations across Vertiv's Global Power Software & Controls product line organization.

This role is responsible for driving consistency, accuracy, scalability, and continuous improvement across estimating activities globally. The position serves as the business owner for estimating standards, methodologies, tools, and best practices while ensuring critical knowledge is captured, maintained, and leveraged across regions and teams.

The Manager, Global Estimating Excellence partners closely with Estimating, Engineering, Pricing Management, Product Management, Program Management, IT, and Business Leadership teams to improve estimate quality, reduce variability, accelerate onboarding, strengthen governance, and increase adoption of global standards.

A key responsibility of this role is supporting and optimizing estimating platforms and processes, including C1 and CPQ solutions, to improve efficiency, compliance, and business performance. This is a player-coach role requiring both strategic leadership and hands-on execution.

Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating Governance & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain global estimating standards, methodologies, and best practices
  • Establish governance frameworks that improve estimate quality, consistency, and accuracy
  • Monitor compliance with approved estimating processes, controls, and approval requirements
  • Conduct audits and reviews to identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities
  • Drive standardization across regions while supporting local business requirements

Estimating Tools & Systems

  • Serve as the business owner for estimating systems, calculators, templates, databases, and workflows
  • Lead continuous improvement of C1 and CPQ platforms and related estimating technologies
  • Partner with IT and business stakeholders to define requirements and implement enhancements
  • Improve system adoption, usability, data quality, and process efficiency
  • Support reporting, analytics, automation, and integration initiatives

Knowledge Management & Capability Development

  • Establish and maintain a centralized repository of estimating knowledge, standards, and lessons learned
  • Capture institutional knowledge and transform it into repeatable, standardized practices
  • Develop training materials, onboarding programs, and capability development tools
  • Facilitate global knowledge-sharing and communities of practice

Process Excellence

  • Analyze estimating performance metrics and identify improvement opportunities
  • Optimize workflows to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability
  • Reduce rework, estimation variability, and commercial risk
  • Support implementation of new processes, tools, and operating models

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with Engineering, Pricing, Product Management, Program Management, Finance, and Business Leadership teams globally
  • Build alignment across regions and functions without direct authority
  • Act as a trusted advisor on estimating excellence, governance, and process maturity
  • Support strategic initiatives impacting estimating operations and business performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in estimating, proposal management, pricing operations, commercial operations, engineering operations, process excellence, operational excellence, or related disciplines
  • Experience developing and governing business processes within a technical or commercial environment
  • Strong understanding of estimating methodologies, pricing, costing, proposal development, and commercial operations
  • Experience implementing process improvement and standardization initiatives
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders across a global matrix organization
  • Experience utilizing enterprise business systems and tools to drive operational excellence
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and change leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting C1, CPQ, quotation, costing, or estimation platforms
  • Experience within power systems, electrical infrastructure, manufacturing, industrial technology, or engineering organizations
  • Experience supporting global estimating, pricing, proposal, or commercial teams
  • Lean, Six Sigma, Operational Excellence, or Process Improvement certifications preferred
  • Knowledge management, business process management, or organizational effectiveness experience preferred
  • Experience leading global process governance initiatives
