Job Purpose: This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of mine operations, including coal loading, quality management, and coordination with key stakeholders. This role involves managing daily and nightly operations, ensuring coal quality and quantity meet the required standards, and liaising with various external parties to maintain consistent and efficient operations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Lead FM Mine Operations

Operational Planning and Oversight:

Oversee 24/7 rake and truck loading operations, ensuring shifts are efficiently managed to maintain consistent coal supply.

Conduct meetings with area staff to review ongoing operations, address issues such as low Gross Calorific Value (GCV), and develop actionable plans to enhance coal quality and quantity.

Plan and manage daily operations, including shift scheduling and personnel attendance.

Siding, Silo, and Mine Management:

Visit siding and silo locations regularly to monitor coal quality and sourcing, ensuring it meets plant requirements.

Observe real-time feeder operations from the silo to verify the delivery of high-quality coal to the plant.

Review mine schedules for blasting and vehicle operations, inspecting the mine pit post-blasting to estimate coal quality and quantity, and adjust rake schedules accordingly.

Quality Management and Sample Collection:

Coordinate with Third-Party Assessors (TPAs) for the collection and preparation of coal samples, aiming to secure higher GCV coal for cost optimization.

Supervise the sample collection process at pitheads, mines, sidings, silos, and stock areas, ensuring proper tagging, stacking, and adherence to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.

Ensure coal loading is accurately represented by TPAs, preventing misrepresentation of coal grade, and ensure compliance with FSA (Fuel Supply Agreement) rules during sampling.

Stakeholder Coordination and Data Management:

Act as the primary liaison with Coal India Limited (CIL) subsidiaries officials and railway offices to discuss coal supply, GCV quality, and operational challenges.

Foster effective communication and coordination with local stakeholders, including siding in-charges, Divisional Traffic Inspectors (DTI), and Area Railway Management (ARM), to ensure smooth operations.

Collaborate with the railway team to ensure coal meets the necessary quality standards and facilitate seamless coal delivery.

Analyze plant quality results in comparison with Quality Council of India (QCI) reports and regularly compare plant and TPA results, providing insights and reports to the Head Office for review.

Address any quality issues arising from sidings, such as missing bed material or overloading problems, ensuring prompt resolution in coordination with transporters and other stakeholders.

Witness Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) collections alongside the Lead and travel to different locations as necessary to oversee operations.

Weighbridge and Transportation Management:

Oversee weighbridge operations to ensure accurate measurement of coal loads, addressing any discrepancies promptly.

Ensure GPS tracking and proper route adherence for coal transportation vehicles, managing documentation such as Railway Delivery Orders (RDO) and Electronic Delivery Receipt Memos (EDRM), and ensuring proper billing and payment follow-ups with the railway.

Compliance and Referee Sample Management:

Ensure the integrity of referee samples according to established norms, coordinating with TPAs for the dispatch of samples to referee labs.

Participate in the annual regradation process of every mine, witnessing the sample collection process by the Coal Controller Organization (CCO) and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Ensure timely coal sampling as per FSA rules and address any challenges in the sampling process in collaboration with TPAs.

Digitisation and Automation:

Execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimise operational efficiency.

Implement automation solutions to support overall organisational goals / strategy.

Implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

People and Team Engagement:

Participate in the recruitment process to attract and retain skilled personnel for the team.

Enhance employee engagement across the team to sustain a positive workplace culture.

Lead, inspire and mentor the team to foster a high-performance culture and ensure cross skilling through job rotation, technical and behavioural trainings.

Ensure proper succession planning in the team.

Foster a conducive environment for high employee retention by ensuring team satisfaction and professional development.

  • Lead and supervise the field operations of heavy mining machinery such as dumpers, excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, drill machines, etc.
  • Ensure daily production targets for overburden removal, drilling, loading, and hauling are achieved.
  • Monitor equipment utilization, cycle times, and productivity across shifts.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report breakdowns to maintenance teams.
  • Track preventive maintenance schedules and ensure equipment availability.
  • Monitor progress of drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
