THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL


The Manager, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting leads the organization’s financial reporting, consolidation, and technical accounting functions, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of financial statements under IFRS. This role oversees regulatory reporting, financial planning activities, and expense management, while serving as the primary liaison for external audits and a trusted advisor across the organization. The Manager provides leadership to the team, drives continuous improvement, and supports strategic financial initiatives, reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting & Enterprise Expenses.


Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the preparation, consolidation, and reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.

  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, including variance analysis against plans and oversight of internal controls.

  • Manage regulatory reporting requirements and coordinate responses to regulatory changes in partnership with Risk and Compliance.

  • Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and support audit processes and deliverables.

  • Lead technical accounting activities, including research, policy development, and implementation of new IFRS standards.

  • Oversee financial planning processes, including multi-year plans, annual operating plans, forecasts, and budgets.

  • Manage shared services accounting and cost allocation methodologies to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  • Provide financial guidance and support to business units and act as a key cross-functional partner.

  • Prepare and present financial reports and insights to senior leadership, Board Committees, and the Audit Committee

  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members while driving process improvements and contributing to Finance’s strategic objectives

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

    • Accounting designation (CPA) supported by a degree in Accounting, Business or similar discipline.
      • Five or more years of leadership experience, overseeing a Finance team and/or Controller capacity.

      • Competent in current accounting principles and guidelines and all relevant legislation and governance requirements.

      • Experience in creating complex accounting note disclosures under IFRS accounting standards.

      • Knowledge of corporate and commodity taxation.

      • Strong business acumen and experience in discerning priorities and critical accountabilities

      • Experienced in leading projects or tasks requiring cross-functional integration.

      • Superb interpersonal skills including the ability to build positive and productive relationships with diverse groups of people; a drive for results tempered with an appreciation for organizational structures and processes; thrives in a collaborative and challenging team environment.

      • Highly developed planning, organizing and negotiating skills; can manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities.

      • Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills; confident, credible and personable.

      • Professional with a strong and responsive service orientation;

      • Strong personal integrity and work ethic; takes responsibility; likes to be held accountable for results.

      • Demonstrated passion, energy, enthusiasm and capability to deliver strong business results and an optimal employee experience.

    • Demonstrated leadership experience to motivate, build, develop and lead effective teams in a collaborative and engaging environment to achieve results .
    • Experience with Workday Finance and/or Workday Adaptive Planning considered an asset.
