Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Finance Operations
• Coordinate and support the budgeting process for a country with large-scale/complex operations, working with the operations and/or commercial leadership team to determine and propose the budget for the country.
• Track country financial accounting operations and processes by monitoring and reviewing key metrics periodically.
• Lead the periodic country financial closing and reporting to senior leadership on balance sheet and P&L statements.
• Lead adherence to established standards for Finance data quality for reporting purposes.
• Lead a large country finance operations team in ensuring collections meet established targets to ensure the financial sustainability of APLL's operations.
• Review key financial health metrics regionally for a country with large-scale/complex operations to assess gaps and implement measures to address gaps and maintain financial sustainability of the business.
• Conduct deep dive and root cause analysis on critical and recurring country finance operations issues to discuss, identify, and implement solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Finance processes and controls.
• Oversee internal and statutory audit processes within the country, leading action to address audit findings, and ensuring robust controls to prevent future audit issues.
• Oversee and sign off on payments for various purposes in line with authorized approval limits.
• Work with the region/country Operations and Finance leadership to resolve major finance operations-related issues and challenges.
• Prepare payroll files and payment lists and perform monthly salary reconciliations (for EMEA only).

Financial Analysis
• Conduct comprehensive financial analyses of the country’s periodic financial performance to identify and establish the underlying causes of any shortfalls. This includes assessing situations where budget targets are not met, instances of revenue declines compared to previous periods, or significant increases in operational expenses.
• Perform initial evaluations of period-to-period (or year-on-year) financial performance to pinpoint potential gaps, determining whether the discrepancies arise from revenue or expense-related issues. In cases where revenue is identified as the concern, analyze whether the shortfall is due to volume fluctuations, accrual discrepancies, or rate reductions.
• Facilitate discussions with various stakeholders, both within Thailand and internationally, to collaboratively identify and validate the root causes of financial underperformance.

P&L Preparation
• Collaborate in the preparation of Profit and Loss (P&L) statements related to new customer pursuits, as initiated by the Operations team, ensuring alignment with overall financial strategies and objectives.

Sales Performance
• Take overall responsibility for sales performance, customer relationships, and meeting sales targets.
• Drive new business development by identifying and pursuing new customers, promoting APLL’s capabilities and solutions.

Finance Process and Operations Excellence
• Lead the implementation of finance processes, policies, and guidelines for a country with large-scale/complex operations, in line with established global best practices for APLL.
• Review finance processes, policies, and guidelines to assess gaps and opportunity areas from efficiency and quality perspectives.
• Drive adoption of continuous improvement approaches and processes within the country finance team.

Technology Management
• Support the development and implementation of a finance systems technology roadmap, coordinating the implementation of new systems and system enhancements at the country level to support, enable, and enhance finance operations and processes.
• Provide feedback on finance systems to regional and global finance leadership as well as IT teams to enable identification of gaps and opportunity areas.
• Coordinate user testing at the country level for enhancements to finance systems or for the development and implementation of new systems.
• Drive change management within country finance teams, working with the IT team to ensure smooth and successful adoption of new business processes and associated technologies and systems.

Stakeholder Management
• Serve as a business partner to country Operations heads for large-scale/complex country operations, advising them on budgets and operational matters from a financial perspective.
• Maintain relationships with customers to work on addressing finance issues, ensuring timely collections, etc.
• Observe, interpret, and comply with local tax regulations, working together with the Tax Manager to ensure compliance and maximize eligible tax benefits.
• Act as the legal representative of the company, reviewing and signing operational contracts and following other legal processes (for EMEA only).

Team & People Management

• Oversee the resourcing for a large country finance team, ensuring the teams have adequate capacity to deliver finance operations.
• Review and take steps to ensure the country finance team has the right skills and capabilities to deliver the team's mandates and serve APLL efficiently and effectively.
• Oversee robust career planning and pathing, and succession planning to ensure effective career development for team members and an adequate pipeline of talent for succession to key positions.
• Build a culture of high performance and continuous improvement within the country finance operations team.

Requirements
• 5 to 10 years of working experience.
• Exposure to taxation and transfer pricing is needed.
• Prior audit experience, preferably with a Big 4 firm, is an advantage.
• Sound knowledge of risks and internal controls in an organization.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong business acumen.
• Managerial Experience
• Coaching people – acts as a leader, mentor, and supporter of others in professional development. Allocates time and effort to discuss development requirements and provides feedback regarding performance and capability.

Qualification
• Minimum of a Bachelors, ideally with an MBA or related advanced degree in Finance, Economics or related field
• Excellent English language skills
