Job Description

1. Strategy & Governance

  • Define and implement the MDM strategy, policies, and standards across global business units.
  • Establish data governance frameworks, including ownership, stewardship, and approval hierarchies.
  • Partner with IT, business process owners, and compliance teams to ensure data alignment with global process templates
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards for monitoring master data quality, timeliness, and completeness.

2. SAP S/4HANA Master Data Leadership

  • Act as the business lead for Master Data in the SAP S/4HANA implementation, focusing on Material Master, BP (Customer/Vendor), and Finance Master Data domains.
  • Collaborate with MDG (Master Data Governance) and Data Migration teams to ensure data accuracy and completeness during cutover.
  • Ensure alignment of master data models with Finance (CoA, Profit Centers, Cost Centers), Supply Chain, and Quality structures.
  • Manage data harmonization and de-duplication initiatives across legacy systems, SAP MDG, and interfaces with third-party tools.

3. Data Quality & Stewardship

  • Drive data quality improvement programs through validation rules, cleansing, and enrichment initiatives.
  • Define and enforce data creation/change control workflows and approval hierarchies.
  • Monitor data lifecycle from creation to archival, ensuring SOX, US GAAP, and GMP/GxP compliance where applicable.
  • Conduct periodic audits and reconciliation of key master data objects (e.g., Material Groups, GL Accounts, BP Roles, etc.).

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Liaise with Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory teams to understand master data dependencies.
  • Partner with Global Process Owners (GPOs) to embed master data governance within process design.
  • Collaborate with IT and MDG developers for automation and workflow optimization.
  • Support training and change management for data owners and business users across regions.

5. Continuous Improvement & Analytics

  • Identify and implement AI/ML-based tools for duplicate detection, anomaly identification, and data health scoring.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and scorecards in Power BI/Tableau for master data KPIs.
  • Lead post-go-live data improvement waves and ensure continuous governance maturity.

  • Education: CA / MBA (Finance / Operations) / BE / B.Tech. preferred.
  • Experience: 10–15 years total, with at least 5 years in Master Data Management in a global SAP environment.
  • Proven experience in SAP MDG, S/4HANA, and data governance frameworks
  • Exposure to pharmaceutical / life sciences regulatory environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of data models, process governance, and cross-domain dependencies
  • Proficiency in tools: SAP MDG, SAP Information Steward, Data Services, Power BI, Excel, SQL.
