Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

About the team and the role:

France & Italy Pod Lead

The European Business Development team grows eBay by bringing high‑potential sellers onto the platform in our priority categories across Europe. We focus on hunter motions: finding new sellers, building strong pipelines, and helping them launch quickly and successfully.

As FRIT Pod Lead, you will lead a pod of 4–8 Business Development Managers (BDMs) dedicated to the French and Italian markets.

You will combine hands‑on ownership of key pipelines with day‑to‑day leadership, coaching, and simple operating rhythms so your team stays focused on the right opportunities and delivers strong results.

You will be located at eBay’s Paris or Milan office (hybrid). You will work alongside colleagues in Category, Marketing, GCX, Legal, Finance, and Product teams. Together, you will bring new French and Italian sellers to life on eBay. Join us to help shape the next chapter of eBay!

What you will accomplish:

  • Lead the end‑to‑end territory strategy for new enterprise, strategic, and upper‑SMB/mid‑market sellers in France and Italy – from sourcing and qualification through contract, onboarding, and handoff to scaling teams – with clear GMV and activation targets.

  • Build, mentor, and support a FRIT group of BDMs, setting territory plans, coverage models, and goals that align to EU and global priorities.

  • Design and run repeatable hunting playbooks tailored to France and Italy (e.g. localised outreach cadences, events/webinars, partner motions) that boost conversion and reduce time‑to‑go‑live.

  • Personally lead a subset of the most strategic or complex opportunities, showing disciplined deal management and strong stakeholder engagement across both markets.

  • Keep pipeline and forecast healthy, partnering with Analytics and Finance to ensure accurate attribution, pacing vs. target, and clear visibility for leadership.

  • Partner with Market & Category teams, Marketing, GCX, Operations, Trust, Support, Legal, along with Finance to remove friction for new FR/IT sellers (e.g. tooling, policies, integration paths, incentives) and to deliver territory initiatives.

  • Use data to spot trends and act fast, turning market and seller signals into clear “do next” actions and tests for the pod.

What you will bring:

  • 3–5+ years’ experience in business development, sales, or marketplace expansion, ideally within e‑commerce or technology platforms, with a track record of delivering commercial impact in France and/or Italy.

  • Experience leading small, high‑energy sales or hunter teams as a player‑coach (c. 4–8 people), including hiring, coaching, performance management, and building an inclusive team culture.

  • Proven ability to guide and motivate BDMs/hunters, setting clear goals, simple routines, and accountability for outcomes across multiple markets.

  • Strong commercial and analytical skills: confident working with funnel metrics and dashboards, and able to translate data into concrete action plans for yourself and your team.

  • Experience managing complex, multi‑stakeholder deals (e.g. brands, large merchants, integrators/3PPs) within the regions of France and Italy, balancing speed with quality and risk.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of influencing cross‑functional partners and senior collaborators, and representing eBay credibly to external sellers and partners.

  • High bias for action, curiosity, and comfort testing and iterating in a fast‑changing environment.

  • Strong proficiency with CRM and sales tooling; experience using AI to support workflows, data analysis, and reporting is a plus.

  • L anguage requirements: Fluency in English and French and/or Italian, with the ability to lead internal discussions and seller conversations in the relevant local language(s).

Role context and collaboration:

  • Geographic scope: France and Italy, with flexibility to support wider EU initiatives where needed.

  • Location: eBay office in Paris or Milan (hybrid), with regular travel across France and Italy and occasional EU travel.

  • Team structure: Direct line leadership of a FRIT pod of BDMs/hunters; close cooperation with related departments (Category, Marketing, Customer Success, Operations, Trust, Finance, Product/Tech) to ensure end‑to‑end seller success.

  • Key partners: Market/Category and vertical leads, GCX, Marketing & Events, Legal, Finance (promo budgets and incentives), Product/Tech (integrations and seller tools), and external solution partners/3PPs where relevant.

  • Key metrics: New active sellers and GMV from France and Italy, pipeline health and conversion, time‑to‑activation and ramp, seller satisfaction/retention, and program ROI across enterprise and mid‑market segments.
