Manager, Environmental Services oversees the operational, financial, and human resources functions of the housekeeping and laundry departments. This role is responsible for maintaining Lincoln Memorial Hospital (LMH) and Memorial Care facilities in Lincoln in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition in accordance with hospital policies and established standards. The Manager ensures an aseptic, safe, and visually appealing environment and maintains compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and Joint Commission (JC) regulations related to sanitation, safety, and infection prevention. As a member of the departmental leadership team, and guided by the values of Memorial Health, this position operates under the general direction of an LMH Operations Management Team (OMT) member and is responsible for deploying, evaluating, and adapting clinical, financial, human capital, and business strategies to support and achieve the hospital’s strategic objectives.
Education• Associate’s degree required.
Licensure / Certification / Registry• None required.
Experience• Minimum of five (5) years of previous housekeeping experience required.• Minimum of three (3) years of previous management experience required.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Working knowledge of Joint Commission (JC), federal, state, and local regulations related to infection control and safety procedures.• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Maintain adequate shift coverage by scheduling employees to ensure the hospital and Memorial Care – Lincoln are thoroughly cleaned and properly maintained.
Evaluate and observe the quality of work performed throughout all hospital areas and Memorial Care – Lincoln through daily or as-needed visual inspections.
Complete and maintain all required logs and documentation; prepare end-of-month Quality Assurance reports based on daily observations; and report substandard conditions to the Director of Hospitality.
Inspect areas for repair needs or hazardous conditions; report findings to the Manager of Plant Operations; and follow appropriate procedures to address malfunctioning equipment and eliminate hazards.
Assist with housekeeping, janitorial, and laundry duties during periods of short staffing.
Manage daily departmental operations to ensure efficient, timely service delivery through consistent enforcement of regulatory and inspecting agency standards.
Schedule appropriate personnel to ensure adequate staffing levels and skill mix to meet daily workload demands.
Perform personnel-related functions, including recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, counseling, discipline, and payroll oversight.
Develop, monitor, and manage the departmental budget.
Investigate physician, patient, and departmental complaints; collaborate with involved parties; and document all follow-up actions.
Serve on hospital committees as assigned, providing technical expertise and operational insight.
Develop, implement, and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
Conduct routine staff meetings and in-service training to provide guidance, education, and performance expectations.
Ensure staff compliance with all applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure the department is properly equipped and stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
Initiate and monitor quality control measures and implement evidence-based practice techniques.
Facilitate departmental goal-setting, establish personal leadership objectives, and support staff in setting and achieving individual performance goals.
Provide leadership and support to remove operational barriers and enable staff to perform efficiently and effectively.
Promote and coordinate community benefit initiatives, ensuring appropriate follow-through, reporting, and documentation.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
