ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage Engineering department ensuring individual and department goals support business objectives. This includes the design input, output, and engineering functions.

Manage the complete design process using ISO approved design control methods. This includes estimating support, initial order contract and design review, engineering scheduling to meet customer and manufacturing requirements The Engineering Manager is responsible for correct application of design requirements, code calculations and application of applicable code requirements. The Engineering Manager will coordinate design approval with the customer and is responsible for the accuracy of the final engineering output. The Engineering manager will collaborate with other departments to resolve concerns as they arise.

Support on-site customer inspections on customer designs. Lead and manage required audits through the department.

Promote development of new design and manufacturing processes. Refine current processes improving efficiencies within the engineering department as well as throughout the organization. An emphasis on design enhancements promoting improved manufacturability.

Give guidance to work performed with ASME Code documents and outside agency approval.

Promote cohesion & growth in Engineering department and cross functionality with other departments. This also includes other Divisions within Samuel Engineered Systems Group.

Coordinate with Sales, Customer Care, Estimating, Purchasing and Manufacturing personnel to ensure that the necessary cross-department communication is in place to meet business objectives.

Project management of custom designs requiring enhanced attention to ensure successful project completion.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • Microsoft Office Applications.
  • IFS or similar ERP system experience.
  • Basic understanding of shop equipment and machinery capabilities.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field & 5-10 years Engineering experience.
  • Management experience in a heavy metal fabrication setting preferred.
  • ASME code and pressure vessel design experience a plus, but not required.
  • Welding process/materials knowledge.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment to meet team expectations.
  • Understanding and support of company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and abide by all safety rules and regulations to perform the job.
  • Proven & effective written & verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and math skills.
  • Computer literate with the ability to learn and operate applicable Engineering software.

  • Most duties were performed sitting, walking and standing in an office environment.
  • Occasional duties performed in a manufacturing area.
