In this role, you'll:


By joining Sydney Trains Employee Relations unit is a force for change, working to make Sydney Trains a great place to work for employees. The unit oversees all aspects of industrial relations including enterprise agreements, industrial disputes, risk minimisation and everything in between.

We navigate a complex industrial landscape to achieve strategic and operational workforce relations outcomes for Sydney Trains, collaborating closely with stakeholders across Sydney Trains leadership, unions, legal, state and federal groups.

Our ambitious and supportive team includes experts from Legal, People and Culture, Industrial and Industrial/Employee Relations backgrounds.

You will lead and direct the provision of strategic advice on workforce relations strategies including the identification and mitigation of industrial risk.

You will coordinate and/or facilitates responses to major industrial strategies and major issues and provides guidance and strategies to support effective consultation with employees and their representatives in respect of workplace reform.

You will represent the Business Unit before Employment Tribunals and other forums in relation to industrial disputes, award variations and all employment law matters to ensure the Business Unit's business objectives are achieved.

There are temporary positions available in a hybrid working model with flexibility to work in our office at 477 Pitt Street, Sydney.

About you


You will have comprehensive knowledge of the industrial relations discipline combined with strong negotiation skills and proven ability to be innovative in resolving industrial disputes.

You will have demonstrated leadership and management capabilities, including the ability to lead, influence, promote and motivate highly skilled staff to deliver desired outcomes.

You will be comfortable in a fast-paced complex customer centric and dynamic environment where delivery on tight deadlines, managing conflicting priorities are critical.

You’ll maintain a high standard of work, and having previously worked in a similar environment, you are aware of the political sensitivities and maintain confidentiality in what you do.
