Our Adaptation, Mitigation and Data Insights division is seeking to appoint a Manager Emergency Evacuation to lead the emergency evacuation modelling to support disaster adaptation planning in NSW. You will lead a specialist team dedicated to modelling risk, influencing land-use planning, and developing data-driven interventions to protect local communities.
*Note: This role is only applicable for NSW state government employees.
About the role
Lead the delivery of the Hawkesbury-Nepean Valley Flood Evacuation Model to drive evidence-based decisions for land use, road infrastructure, and flood mitigation.
Lead emergency evacuation strategy to support state-wide disaster adaptation planning
Manage internal and external partnerships to ensure the security, integrity, and availability of high-quality operational data sets.
Utilise modelling outputs to lead detailed investigations into road upgrades and flood mitigation projects that inform cross-government planning.
Provide specialist guidance on rezoning, development applications, and evacuation capacity to influence regional land-use policy.
Oversee the production of technical reports and methodologies, translating complex spatial data into actionable insights.
Direct key evacuation modelling initiatives across various forecastable natural hazards.
About You
You will have experience in strategic land-use planning, transport modelling and a solid understanding of emergency management frameworks that will tie in with risk assessments. This is key for technical literacy and building complex reports. You will also have experience in large scale network modelling and analysis, concept and detailed designs, traffic impact assessment and public transport planning.
As this role manages a team, it will be critical that you have demonstrated leadership experience and stakeholder engagement to navigate through cross-government planning.
Essential Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in engineering or equivalent and/or extensive equivalent experience in a relevant technical field.
