Manager, Embedded Software Engineering

Role Purpose

This exciting opportunity is created to build and lead a growing embedded software team in Bangalore, shaping its technical capability, ways of working and contribution to global product development. The successful candidate will recruit and develop a team that can scale up rapidly in the medium term, while building strong partnerships across software, electronics, hardware and product teams in Europe, Asia and the US. With a focus on delivery, engineering quality and continuous learning, the successful candidate will help the team make a lasting impact on industrial products.

Role Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard and develop the Bangalore embedded software team, building the structure and capabilities to scale up rapidly in the medium term.
  • Provide functional and disciplinary leadership, set clear priorities and create an environment where engineers can do their best work.
  • Build effective working relationships with global software, hardware, electronics and product teams across Europe, Asia and the US.
  • Coordinate dependencies across embedded software and hardware, including board bring-up, drivers, interfaces, protocols and integration.
  • Facilitate cross-site technical decisions, planning and prioritisation, and resolve or escalate conflicts when priorities diverge.
  • Establish clear ways of working, including agile routines, review practices, handovers, documentation standards and Definition of Done.
  • Guide delivery against agreed timelines, quality expectations and budgets, and provide transparent updates on roadmaps, risks, maturity and milestones to HQ and global stakeholders.
  • Build team capability through coaching, skill assessments and development plans; promote knowledge sharing, cross-functional exposure and practical AI use in engineering workflows.

Role Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering or a comparable discipline.
  • Several years of embedded software development experience, with strong familiarity with C/C++ and RTOS or embedded Linux environments.
  • Proven experience leading technical teams, ideally in an international setting, and building or scaling an engineering team.
  • Strong understanding of hardware-near software development, including drivers, interfaces, integration, debugging and hardware-software root-cause analysis.
  • Experience working closely with electronics or hardware teams, with the ability to understand schematics and support bring-up processes.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication technologies such as CAN, Modbus, PROFINET, EtherCAT or OPC UA; familiarity with sensor technologies such as radar or vision is an advantage.
  • Agile mindset, preferably with hands-on Scrum experience, plus cross-site planning and the ability to coordinate and influence within a matrix organisation.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder skills across functions and time zones; business-fluent English is required.
  • Intercultural awareness, willingness to travel during team build-up and openness to AI-enabled engineering are expected.
