Lead the Future of Electrical Design & Engineering

Are you ready to lead a global electrical organization supporting some of the most advanced bioprocessing equipment in the world? ABEC is seeking an Engineering Manager, Electrical Design & Engineering to drive technical excellence, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement across our Electrical Engineering and Electrical Design functions. This is an opportunity to lead a talented global team, shape engineering standards, and influence the future of electrical system design for critical bioprocess applications.

The Engineering Manager, Electrical Design & Engineering, is responsible for leading ABEC’s global Electrical Engineering and Electrical Design functions in support of bioprocessing equipment solutions. This role provides engineering leadership, execution oversight, and organizational structure for the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems across customer projects, products, and service initiatives.

The position manages a global team of Electrical Engineers, Electrical Designers, Team Leads, and third-party engineering partners and is accountable for delivery performance, resource planning, quality, standardization, and continuous improvement. Success in this role requires strong engineering management capability, sound technical judgment, and the ability to drive execution across a distributed global organization while effectively leveraging both internal and external engineering resources.

Key Responsibilities

Lead & Inspire

  • Lead, develop, and manage a global team of Electrical Engineers, Electrical Designers, and Team Leads, including performance management, coaching, hiring, and capability development.
  • Establish effective utilization and integration of third-party electrical engineering and design resources to supplement internal capacity and support business growth.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage departmental labor and facility resources to support current and forecasted project, product, and service demands.
  • Establish clear priorities, execution discipline, and accountability across the Electrical Design & Engineering organization.
  • Foster collaboration and consistency across global engineering locations while supporting local operational needs.

Technical Oversight & Project Execution

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for electrical system design, including power distribution, control panel design, instrumentation integration, grounding, cable management, conduit routing, and electrical infrastructure associated with ABEC equipment.
  • Ensure electrical engineering and design deliverables meet defined scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Partner with Project Management to align electrical execution with overall project plans, milestones, and customer commitments.
  • Support accurate electrical system cost, labor, and lead-time estimates for project and service quotations.
  • Review and challenge technical approaches to ensure solutions are safe, code-compliant, manufacturable, maintainable, and scalable.
  • Support resolution of complex technical issues that impact project execution, manufacturing, FAT, SAT, or field performance.

Quality, Standardization & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Electrical Design & Engineering organization to achieve measurable improvements in delivery predictability, engineering quality, first-pass yield, and rework reduction.
  • Promote standard electrical architectures, design practices, component selections, drafting standards, and engineering workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain electrical engineering standards, reference designs, component libraries, drafting standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Ensure third-party engineering partners are trained on and adhere to ABEC electrical standards, design practices, and quality expectations.
  • Identify and address systemic issues impacting quality, throughput, manufacturability, or customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Service teams to improve design-for-manufacturing, installation efficiency, and long-term system reliability.

Cross-Functional & Strategic Collaboration

  • Interface with Project Management, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Product Management, and Service teams to ensure technically sound and commercially competitive electrical solutions.
  • Manage relationships with external engineering partners and design service providers, including performance management, workload allocation, quality oversight, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish scalable processes and standards that enable effective collaboration between internal engineering teams and external design partners.
  • Support evaluation and implementation of new tools, technologies, engineering partners, and delivery models that enhance ABEC’s electrical design and engineering capabilities.
  • Contribute to long-term electrical design and engineering strategy aligned with business growth, operational scalability, and continuous improvement objectives.

Travel

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required to support projects, customers, team development, and global engineering alignment.

Why ABEC?
