This role is based within our Direct Tax Accounting & Compliance team, managing a wide range of tax compliance and tax accounting for multiple Trafigura entities across various jurisdictions. You will work together and have support from the Amsterdam Schiphol based direct tax team, but you are expected to be self-driven and proactive in handling your responsibilities. As a more senior member of the team, you will be responsible for deliverables but can leverage resources from our tax compliance team in Mumbai.
You will work closely with our global teams based in Amsterdam Schiphol, Mumbai, Montevideo, and Geneva. Trafigura is an entrepreneurial and dynamic environment that operates at a high pace. The role plays a vital part in minimizing tax risks, optimizing tax positions.
Prepare and file Dutch corporate income tax returns, including Pillar 2 returns and relating tax compliance activities like monitoring filing deadlines, review tax assessments and ensure timely tax payments are made etc.
Coordinate with external tax advisors for preparation, review and filing of non-Dutch income tax returns, including Pillar 2 returns
Assist in international tax audits and information requests, taking the lead responsibility for less complex matters and coordination activities
Collate and analyze data from various teams to determine taxability of transactions
Coordinate with tax advisors for preparation of local files including benchmarks
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date register of Local Files and Master Files
Prepare new local files with support from the Direct Tax Team
Monitor and control worldwide transfer pricing obligations
Provide numerical and accounting support for intercompany arrangements
Ensure tax provisions align with management expectations and filed returns/assessments
Ensure tax risks are properly translated into the financial statements
Provide accounting and analytical support to the Direct Tax Team on multi-jurisdictional projects
Education:
Master's degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience:
7+ years of relevant experience of tax compliance activities (including preparation of tax returns) and tax accounting activities
Experience with transfer pricing matters and compliance
Professional consulting services firm and/or in-house tax experience required
Experience working with multiple jurisdictions (particularly European entities)
Pillar 2 experience highly desirable given recent implementation
Technical Skills:
Understanding of tax regulations
Understanding of transfer pricing principles
Understanding of treatment of tax matters under accounting standards (IFRS, Dutch GAAP, or US GAAP)
Experience extracting and analysing data from accounting/consolidation/ERP systems (Oracle, OneStream or similar)
Microsoft Excel skills required
Ability to work with various IT systems and adapt to new processes
Language Skills:
Fluent English (written and verbal) required
Dutch language skills preferred for local tax authority interactions
