Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Engineering Manager, Digital Servicing Platform to lead modernization and evolution of Vancity’s digital banking platform for Retail, SMB and Commercial members. This senior technology leadership role defines platform strategy, governs architecture, and drives delivery and operational excellence across the Digital servicing ecosystem. This role owns the digital banking platform and associated capabilities, including online account opening, digital onboarding, public sites, web, mobile experience (iOS and Android) and digital product support(L3) ensuring these capabilities are scalable, secure and centered on exceptional member outcomes. You will coordinate team and vendor resources, oversee system health and performance, and guide change management processes to deliver stable, secure and high-quality digital experiences.

This is a Full-time, Permanent role based at our Vancity head office and will report directly to the Director, Digital Servicing Our head office is based in Vancouver, but we are open to candidates in BC and Ontario. While this position is for an existing vacancy and provides a remote work arrangement, you will be expected to be onsite for events and business demands


How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Leading engineering delivery across mobile and web platforms, balancing roadmap execution, platform stability, and operational excellence.
  • Supporting transformation across mobile, web, APIs, cloud, DevOps, testing, and platform engineering by modernizing practices, adopting AI enabled, specification driven development, and improving delivery quality and speed.
  • Championing exceptional member experiences by improving usability, performance, accessibility, reliability, and security.
  • Partnering with Product, Architecture, Core Banking, Quality Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and Business teams to modernize engineering, simplify delivery, and execute the technology roadmap.
  • Driving predictable delivery through effective planning, release management, engineering metrics, and continuous delivery practices.
  • Streamlining Level 3 production support by improving observability, automation, incident management, root cause analysis, and vendor accountability.
  • Building strong partnerships with technology vendors, establishing clear expectations for delivery, quality, innovation, and operational performance.
  • Coaching and developing high performing engineering teams while fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, innovation, continuous learning, and AI adoption.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor and/or Master Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering and technology delivery
  • 7+ years leading software engineering teams delivering customer-facing mobile and web solutions.
  • Strong understanding of iOS and Android platforms and modern web technology stacks, including frontend frameworks, APIs, cloud platforms, CI CD, DevOps, platform engineering, and modern software architecture.
  • Experience leading engineering modernization, AI enabled development, developer productivity, automation, and specification driven software delivery.
  • Proven success balancing roadmap delivery, platform stability, operational excellence, and technical debt reduction.
  • Experience managing technology vendors and engineering partners in complex delivery environments.
  • Strong understanding of release management, production operations, observability, incident management, and Site Reliability Engineering principles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, coaching, and problem solving skills.
  • Passion for building high performing engineering teams and delivering exceptional digital experiences for members.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem solving skills and excellent communication abilities.
  • Strong understanding of financial landscape to inform strategic vision and enable business outcomes.
  • Third party Saas and banking platforms.
  • Modern software architecture and engineering practices.

Extra Skills That Set You Apart:

  • Familiarity with agile leadership practices and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience working in financial services or a regulated environment
  • Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or cloud platform certifications
  • Experience in digital banking, fintech, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience leading digital transformation and modern engineering practices across mobile, web, APIs, cloud, DevOps, Quality Engineering, and platform engineering.
  • Experience building and supporting scalable, resilient, and highly available digital platforms and large scale production environments.
  • Knowledge in Accessiblity standards (WCAG) and regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Earn:

This role offers a salary range of $141,100 to $190,900 per annum The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
