Job Description

The Manager, Development Accounting manage the day‑to‑day accounting, reporting, and forecasting activities for assigned development and capital projects. This role oversees Analysts, reviews and approves financial outputs, and serves as the first point of escalation for project‑level financial issues.

The Manager ensures compliance with accounting standards and internal controls while partnering closely with project management teams to support accurate financial execution.

Specific Expected Contributions

  • Enforce department standards for financial reporting, forecasting, and controls.
  • May Manage a team of analysts, including performance reviews, coaching, workflow distribution, and career development.
  • Prioritize and ensure alignment with projects and organizational goals.
  • Manage accurate and timely update of project budgeting and forecasting.
  • Manage the review and oversight of all project commitments on a timely basis, performing financial due diligence review of contracts and change orders, and ensuring approval in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintains a strong system of control within Development Accounting (by including but not limited to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements).
  • Confirms compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Reconciles PeopleSoft General Ledger Job Cost to PMWeb Cost Worksheet (or Excel) forecast maintained by the A&C project management team.
  • Ensures financial representation at A&C bid openings
  • Partners with A&C project manager on timing of Refurbishment Services Agreement recognition in the P&L for Budget, Forecast, and Actuals
  • Manage the lifecycle of Refurb Forecast and Budget for project management billing
  • Coordinate Budget and Forecast for MVW Capex consolidation.
  • Review and submit project id requests to HCL or other third party vendor as needed
  • Serves as primary point of contact regarding general audit questions and documentation.
  • Manage financial analysis to support managerial decision-making and special projects as requested.
  • Perform general Accounting as needed (including request of journal entries and Bahamas VAT review)

Education

  • BS or BA Degree in Accounting or Finance, or related major or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • 5+ years of related work experience in accounting & finance preferred.
  • Knowledge of real estate development or construction industry.
  • Basic understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act Section 404.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare written training documentation.
  • Timeshare knowledge and experience specific to contract and loan compliance preferred.

  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally and build strong working relationships across the organization, serving as a trusted advisor within project team environments and broader business initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with experience coaching, guiding, or supervising others, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting team development and delivery of results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk, identify trends, and provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support business decisions
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with construction job cost systems, with the ability to leverage tools and systems to improve reporting, processes, and operational efficiency
