About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

As Manager, Office of the DCE, you will be a trusted strategic partner and advisor to the Deputy Chief Executive, helping ensure the Group operates as a high-performing, well-aligned business unit that delivers ACC’s strategic priorities. This is an enterprise leadership role, requiring strong judgement, discretion and the ability to operate confidently in complex and fast-moving environments.

Reporting directly to the DCE, you will lead the Office of the DCE functions, including business management, strategic advice and administrative services, ensuring high-quality, timely and cohesive support to the DCE and Group Leadership Team. You will translate strategic intent into actionable programmes of work, establish strong planning and performance rhythms, and strengthen governance, reporting, risk and assurance practices across the Group.

You will work closely with senior leaders across ACC to anticipate and respond to emerging issues, build alignment on priorities and enable informed decision-making. The role does not hold formal deputy authority; any delegated responsibilities are exercised only where explicitly agreed by the DCE.

The appointing salary for this role is $138,301 – $195,248 based on experience and we offer an additional 9% superannuation contribution ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme with features like no minimum employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance, and flexibility to change to a locked plan at any time.

This is a Wellington based role.

We’re looking for a team player with exceptional communication skills, who can build strong relationships and work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Someone who can focus on the big issues and provide simple, solutions focused advice will fit well.

You will bring:

  • Strategic advisory capability and experience in supporting senior executives on complex issues, risks and opportunities.
  • Strong political nous and understanding of machinery of government (including OIAs, PQs, Select Committee etc.).
  • Proven ability to influence and build trusted relationships at senior levels and lead through influence.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information into clear, actionable advice.
  • Delivery leadership - translating strategy into disciplined plans, delivery and outcomes.
  • Governance, planning and performance reporting capability.
  • Risk management and assurance capability (including operating within a three-lines model).
