Create your best future and join Westpac as a Manager, Data Quality

This role will play a crucial part of the UNITE team. UNITE is our business-led, tech-enabled transformation, and a key priority for the Group. UNITE is about delivering 'one best way' to make our processes, systems, and tech simpler so we can deliver a better experience for our customers and make things easier for our people.

  • Location: Sydney-based role
  • On-site Requirement: 3-4 days in the office per week
  • Why On-site? This is a highly collaborative position involving regular face-to-face workshops and close team interaction, making in-office presence essential.

What’s the role?

We’re looking for a Manager, Data Quality to support delivery across a large-scale data migration program. Working closely with the Data Quality Delivery Lead, this role helps coordinate data quality activities across Business, Data, Technology, Operations, remediation teams, and downstream consumers, ensuring agreed data quality activities are progressed, coordinated, and delivered to plan.

The role focuses on hands‑on execution and coordination of data quality activities such as profiling, validation, managing technology release activities and defect triage, and remediation tracking. You’ll work across teams to translate priorities into action, clarify requirements, assess exceptions, and support remediation pathways.

You will act as a strong connector between teams, making sure requirements are well understood, issues are clearly articulated, and evidence is produced in line with governance and migration milestones. This role is essential to turning intent into execution working very closely with Data Quality delivery lead, maintaining momentum, and ensuring teams stay aligned. You’ll also help keep delivery on track by monitoring timelines, managing dependencies, supporting governance and status reporting, and ensuring evidence is produced in line with migration milestones. This role suits someone who is structured, collaborative, and comfortable working in complex and ambiguous delivery environments.

What do I need?

  • Extensive experience in data quality, business or data focused execution roles, ideally within data migration, financial services or other regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting large-scale data migration or transformation program guiding profiling, validation, technology deliverables, reporting and remediation activities for overall data quality.
  • Proven ability to work closely with technology teams, Data, Business and operational teams for remediation activities to coordinate requirements and deliverables per planned timelines.
  • Strong documentation and governance capability, including producing data quality rules, validation evidence, data quality related reporting, and approval packs, aligned to agreed standards and templates.
  • Strong stakeholder coordination and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, accurate status updates, surface risks and dependencies, and escalate issues appropriately to the Data Quality Delivery Lead.
