Manager of Data Engineering

Location: Toronto/GTA

Our team of experts is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions that empower our clients to unlock the full potential of their data.

We are seeking an exceptional Manager of Data Engineering to lead our talented team of data engineers in delivering innovative data solutions for our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, with expertise in cloud data technologies such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. This role requires a strategic thinker who can drive the design, development, and implementation of scalable data solutions while providing leadership and guidance to our team of data engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of data engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure the successful delivery of client projects.
  • Collaborate closely with our consulting and sales teams to understand client requirements and develop tailored data solutions that address their specific needs.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Implement best practices for data management, including data governance, security, and compliance, to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of client data.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on cloud data technologies, staying abreast of the latest advancements and industry trends to drive innovation in our solutions.
  • Define project scope, timelines, and deliverables, and track progress against key milestones to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the data engineering team and across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a data engineering role, with a track record of successfully delivering data solutions on cloud platforms.
  • 2+ years in a leadership capacity
  • Strong expertise in cloud data technologies such as AWS (Amazon Web Services), GCP (Google Cloud Platform), or Azure (Microsoft Azure).
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable data pipelines using tools such as Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, or similar technologies.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and technologies, including relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and drive consensus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that meet client needs.
  • Experience working in a consulting or client-facing role is a plus.
