Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Data and Analytics based in Canada.

This is a leadership opportunity for a data and analytics professional who wants to use technology and evidence to support meaningful environmental outcomes. You will lead the day-to-day delivery of data products, dashboards, and analytical solutions that inform conservation decisions across Canada. The role combines people leadership, technical oversight, data governance, business intelligence, and strategic collaboration. You will manage a team of analysts while ensuring the quality, reliability, and consistency of core data assets and analytical outputs. Working closely with senior leaders, GIS specialists, researchers, conservation practitioners, and business partners, you will translate complex data into actionable insights. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to grow your leadership responsibilities while contributing to work with lasting environmental impact.

Accountabilities:

    • Lead the day-to-day delivery of data, analytics, dashboards, and business intelligence products that support evidence-based decision-making across Canada.
    • Own the team's committed workplan, establish priorities, monitor progress, and ensure analytical deliverables are completed to a consistently high standard.
    • Manage, coach, and develop a team of technical and analytical professionals, establishing clear objectives, performance expectations, feedback processes, and development opportunities.
    • Oversee the operational health, quality, and reliability of core data assets, analytical products, and reporting solutions.
    • Lead initiatives related to data governance, data quality, master data management, and analytics standards.
    • Provide technical direction and quality oversight across analytical, statistical, visualization, and spatial data projects.
    • Guide the development and maintenance of dashboards and reporting solutions, including establishing effective Power BI and data visualization standards.
    • Partner with GIS analysts and conservation specialists to guide the use and quality assurance of spatial data and analysis at regional and national scales.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Data and Analytics on strategic priorities, team direction, and external commitments.
    • Work closely with senior leaders, researchers, conservation practitioners, and business partners to translate organizational needs into practical data and analytics solutions.
    • Translate complex technical findings into clear, accessible insights, visuals, and recommendations for non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
    • Support the responsible adoption of AI-assisted development and analytical tools, establishing practical team standards and responsible-use practices.
    • Identify opportunities to improve data workflows, analytics capabilities, automation, and overall operational effectiveness.
    • Manage competing priorities across distributed teams and ensure projects remain aligned with strategic objectives and deadlines.
    • Requirements

      • University or college degree in data science, geomatics, environmental science, computer science, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant education and experience may also be considered.
      • At least 5 years of experience applying analytical and statistical methods and software tools to analyze data and develop reports.
      • At least 3 years of experience managing technical or analytical teams, with demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and motivate professionals.
      • Hands-on experience with at least one of Python, R, or SQL, with sufficient technical fluency to scope, direct, and review analytical work.
      • Working knowledge of Power BI and data visualization principles, with the ability to guide dashboard development and reporting standards.
      • Experience working with GIS, spatial data, and spatial analysis, ideally at regional or national scales.
      • Demonstrated experience leading data governance, data quality, analytics, or related data management initiatives.
      • Solid understanding of data governance, data quality, and master data management practices.
      • Ability to support the adoption of AI-assisted tools, including coding assistants and LLM-based solutions, while establishing responsible usage standards.
      • Strong ability to prioritize competing demands and translate strategic direction into clear team objectives and measurable outcomes.
      • Proven stakeholder management skills, including the ability to negotiate competing priorities, resolve project issues, and build productive relationships with senior leaders and external partners.
      • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and analytical results in clear, non-technical language.
      • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills, combined with a consistent record of meeting deadlines.
      • Ability to work effectively with distributed teams across multiple time zones.
      • Excellent written and spoken English; French language skills are considered an asset.
      • Additional technical experience considered an asset:

        • Git and GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
        • Data warehousing, ETL pipelines, and cloud technologies, particularly Azure.
        • Conservation planning tools such as Marxan, prioritizr, or Zonation.
        • Predictive modelling, classification, and clustering techniques.
        • Remote sensing platforms and related analytical approaches.
        • Knowledge of relevant policies and legislation.
        • Experience with conservation, environmental, or other mission-driven organizations.
        • Benefits

          • Annual salary of $82,772–$93,099 CAD, based on qualifications, experience, and relevant factors.
          • Full-time, 12-month contract opportunity.
          • Fully remote work anywhere in Canada, with flexible location arrangements.
          • No regular in-person attendance required, aside from up to two staff gatherings per year
