Manager – Data Engineering (Investment Management )

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manager – Data Engineering to lead a strategic data transformation initiative within our Investment Management domain. This role requires a unique blend of business acumen, product ownership, and technical leadership, serving as the bridge between business stakeholders and data engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Business Analysis, Product Management, or Data Product Ownership, combined with sufficient technical depth to lead data engineering teams, influence architecture decisions, and drive delivery of scalable data platforms and analytics solutions. Experience in Investment Management, particularly within Private Real Estate Investments, is highly preferred.

This individual will be responsible for defining and executing the data roadmap, translating complex investment management requirements into scalable data products, and leading cross-functional teams through a multi-year transformation journey.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Product Ownership

• Own and drive the strategic roadmap for Data & Analytics solutions supporting Investment Management functions.
• Partner closely with US based business leaders, investment professionals, operations teams, and technology stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven transformation.
• Translate business objectives, investment processes, and operational requirements into actionable data products, engineering initiatives, and delivery plans.
• Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring alignment on priorities, outcomes, and success metrics.
• Lead requirements discovery, business process analysis, and solution design for complex enterprise data initiatives.

Data Engineering & Delivery Management

• Lead and mentor a team of Data Engineers, BI Developers, Data Analysts, and technical delivery resources.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of data platforms, data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, reporting solutions, and analytics capabilities.
• Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to design scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions.
• Establish engineering best practices, governance standards, quality controls, and delivery frameworks.
• Ensure successful execution of multiple concurrent projects while managing dependencies, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
• Support modernization initiatives involving cloud data platforms, advanced analytics, AI/ML enablement, and data products.

Stakeholder & Program Management

• Communicate effectively with senior business executives, technology leadership, and investment professionals.
• Facilitate decision-making across complex stakeholder groups and matrixed organizations.
• Drive alignment among business, product, engineering, and operations teams.
• Present program updates, roadmap recommendations, and investment cases to senior leadership.
• Bring structure and clarity to ambiguous business problems and transformation initiatives.

Investment Management Domain Leadership

• Understand and translate investment management concepts into scalable data solutions and business requirements.
• Partner with investment teams to support portfolio management, asset management, performance analytics, investor reporting, and operational reporting.
• Contribute to data strategy supporting investment lifecycle activities including: Due diligenceUnderwriting and feasibility analysisDeal evaluationPortfolio monitoringPerformance measurementIncome estimation and forecastingInvestor reportingRisk and exposure analysis

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 12+ years of overall experience in Data & Analytics, Data Engineering, Business Analysis, Product Management, or related disciplines.
• Proven experience leading enterprise-scale Data Engineering, Data Warehouse, ETL/ELT, BI, or Analytics programs.
• Strong background in Business Analysis, Product Management, Product Ownership, or Data Product Management.
• Demonstrated experience managing and leading technical teams in a matrixed environment.
• Strong understanding of modern data architectures, data platforms, and analytics ecosystems.
• Hands-on proficiency with SQL and strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration concepts.
• Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies and product-centric operating models.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize across multiple initiatives and drive execution in complex environments.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences and business concepts to technical teams.
• Experience in Snowflake, dBT, Fivetran and BI Tools would be preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within Investment Management, Asset Management, Private Equity, Real Estate Investment Management, REITs, or alternative investments.
• Strong understanding of private real estate investment structures, including: Debt and equity investmentsFund structures and vehiclesCapital allocation and liquidity considerationsPortfolio and performance analyticsInvestment reporting and attribution
• Experience delivering data solutions supporting investment lifecycle workflows.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Platform, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Exposure to AI/ML-enabled analytics, predictive modeling, or intelligent automation initiatives.
• Experience building and managing data products and self-service analytics capabilities.
• Understanding of data governance, metadata management, data quality, and master data management practices.
