Job Summary

The Engineering Manager leads and mentors the software development team, defining technical vision and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This is a hands-on role involving implementing best practices, driving process improvements, and managing team performance through goal setting and reviews. The Engineering Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, facilitates agile ceremonies, provides technical guidance, and builds a high-performing team by recruiting and retaining top talent. In addition, the Engineering Manager should have experience with relevant modern development technologies such as C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and RESTful services, along with working knowledge of relational databases, automation, and infrastructure technologies.

Role Description

  • Lead and mentor the software development or engineering team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Define and communicate the technical vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and customer requirements.
  • Design, develop, and implement new software features or modifications to existing software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, sales, and stakeholders, to ensure project alignment and goal achievement.
  • Implement and enforce best practices for software development, including code quality, testing, and deployment.
  • Drive process improvements and automation to enhance team efficiency and product delivery.
  • Manage team performance through setting goals, conducting reviews, and using data-driven assessments.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies and ensure adherence to agile principles and methodologies.
  • Provide technical guidance and support, including resolving escalations and troubleshooting issues.
  • Conduct regular code reviews to ensure any code being released to Production is meeting the agreed standards.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing team by recruiting, onboarding, and retaining world-class talent.
  • Communicate team progress, goals, and vision to the broader organization and stakeholders.
  • Set and manage engineering deadlines and ensure their accuracy, as agreed with the Product Leadership team

Skill Level Requirements

  • The expertise in leveraging cloud-based platforms and services to build, deploy, and manage applications and data on the internet. - Expert
  • Ability to implement and manage DevOps practices, including continuous integration, continuous delivery, infrastructure as code, and monitoring to enhance the collaboration between development and operations teams. - Expert
  • Proficiency in using SQL for database management, including tasks such as querying, updating, and managing relational databases to efficiently handle data retrieval and manipulation - Expert
  • In-depth understanding of the structured practices and workflows involved in the software development lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering and coding to testing and deployment. - Expert
  • Proficiency in facilitating Agile Scrum practices, guiding teams through the Scrum framework to ensure efficient and successful project delivery. - Expert

Other Requirements

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience required
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 1+ years of experience in people management preferred
  • Ability to travel 20%
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Hybrid
