Full-Time: 40 Hours/Weekly, Rotating

General Summary

Provides leadership, oversight, and operational management of the WellSpan EMS Critical Care Transport (CCT) program. Responsible for clinical quality, regulatory compliance, workforce management, operational readiness, and program growth of ground critical care transport services. Ensures safe, evidence-based, and high-reliability delivery of advanced interfacility transport services aligned with health system strategy.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads the day-to-day operations of the Critical Care Transport program across the WellSpan EMS service region.
  • Supervises assigned personnel.
  • Ensures compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Health EMS regulations and critical care transport standards.
  • Develops and monitors clinical protocols in collaboration with the EMS Medical Director.
  • Oversees recruitment, onboarding, competency validation, and ongoing clinical education of CCT staff.
  • Establishes and monitors key performance indicators including response times, transport volume, clinical quality metrics, and revenue performance.
  • Ensures readiness and maintenance of specialized CCT equipment, medications, and vehicles.
  • Collaborates with hospital ICU, ED, and specialty service leadership to ensure alignment and seamless patient handoff.
  • Participates in quality assurance reviews, case audits, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assists in development of business plans and growth strategies for CCT services.
  • Serves as clinical and operational resource during high-acuity or complex transports as needed.
  • Collaborates with leadership to align CCT program with broader EMS infrastructure and financial objectives.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree In Nursing, EMS, Healthcare Administration or related field. Required

Work Experience:

  • 7 years Experience in Emergency Medical Services above the level of Advanced EMT. Required and
  • 5 years Experience in ground or air transport program. Required and
  • 4 years Supervisory or leadership experience. Required

Licenses:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or
  • Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required or
  • Certified Paramedic Upon Hire Required or
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse - AACN Upon Hire Required or
  • Certified Flight Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required and
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required and
  • Ped Adv Life Support Upon Hire Required

Driver's License Statement:

Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.

Courses and Training:

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 120 days Required and
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, and 800. Upon Hire Required and
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course within 120 days Required or
  • Intl Trauma Life Support within 120 days Required or
  • Adv Trauma Life Support within 120 days Required or
  • Prehospital Trauma Life Support within 120 days Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of critical care transport medicine and mobile healthcare delivery.
  • Strong clinical leadership and staff development capabilities.
  • Understanding of EMS regulatory compliance and scope-of-practice standards.
  • Financial and operational performance management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with hospital and physician leadership.
  • Strong analytical and quality improvement competencies.
