Job Description

Manager Controlling Transformation – Analytics & AI (m/f/d)

  • Location: Hamburg, Norderstedt - tesa Headquarter
  • Entry as: Permanent
  • Work Area: Finance

What you will do

You will help shape the next generation of controlling at tesa by sitting at the interface of Sales Controlling, IT, and our Management Reporting & Systems team. Your mission: make our controlling processes measurably more efficient and impactful through SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and agentic AI.

In this role you go beyond classical controlling — though you start hands-on in the operational core. You embed yourself in the Sales Controlling Consumer team to understand the business end to end, uncover bottlenecks, and translate real-world needs into scalable analytics and automation solutions — across reporting, commenting, planning, forecasting, analysis, and decision support. Expect the first phase to be strongly operational, working directly in day-to-day Sales Controlling.

After an initial phase of delivering tangible improvements for 6–12 months, you will expand your scope and apply proven approaches to other teams across Controlling & Accounting — always connecting business needs, IT capabilities, and analytics-platform delivery.

  • Become a trusted partner within Sales Controlling Consumer by mastering end-to-end processes, data flows, governance needs, and timing constraints
  • Identify high-impact efficiency opportunities across reporting cycles, commentary collection, forecast preparation, variance analysis, and management Q&A
  • Design target processes and operational playbooks that simplify and standardize controlling activities
  • Build, enhance, and maintain SAC content across reporting and planning (models, stories, dashboards, input forms, collaboration features)
  • Translate business questions into clear KPIs, data models, visualizations, and actionable insights — enabling self-service where it makes sense
  • Develop and scale automations and agentic solutions (with human-in-the-loop controls) that reduce manual effort and support decision-making
  • Collaborate closely with IT and platform teams on architecture, integrations, security, and lifecycle management
  • Drive requirement workshops, backlog management, testing/UAT, training, and go-live activities
  • Turn progress, benefits, and adoption into measurable impact, and build reusable templates and best practices to scale beyond Sales Controlling Consumer

What you will need

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Informatics, Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field
  • A strong analytical mindset paired with hands-on data-analytics and implementation ability — you move from problem statement to working solution
  • Practical experience in Controlling, Sales Controlling, or Commercial Finance (or a strong drive to build it quickly), ideally including planning/forecasting or sales performance management
  • Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) or comparable enterprise BI/planning platforms and readiness to ramp up fast; an understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT basics, and KPI governance is a plus
  • Interest and initial experience in automation, AI-assisted analytics, or agentic workflows; familiarity with Microsoft Copilot Studio (or similar), responsible AI practices (data privacy, role-based access, traceability), and vibe coding are welcome
  • Excellent communication skills — you translate between business and IT and explain complex topics to non-technical stakeholders
  • High ownership, curiosity, and a proactive, structured, reliable working style
  • A bonus: hands-on tooling such as scripting (SQL, Python, Java) or automation platforms (e.g. Power Automate / Power Platform), and SAP experience (S/4HANA, SAP BW, SAP Datasphere, Business Data Cloud)
  • Fluent English; German is a plus
