At HearstMade, we create premium branded content that informs, inspires, and resonates with millions of readers across some of the world's most trusted media brands. As Manager, Content Strategy, Health & Fitness, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping compelling storytelling that seamlessly connects client objectives with authentic editorial experiences.

About Hearst Magazines (Why Us?)

Hearst Magazines is one of the world’s largest publishers, with a portfolio of more than 30 iconic brands reaching audiences across print, digital, social, video, and emerging platforms. From health and wellness to fashion, food, entertainment, and lifestyle, our brands create trusted content that informs, inspires, and connects with millions of consumers every day. Through HearstMade, our award-winning branded content studio, we partner with leading marketers to develop innovative, audience-first campaigns that deliver meaningful results while maintaining the editorial excellence our brands are known for.

Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

  • Lead content strategy for health and fitness-focused RFPs, developing compelling concepts and recommendations that align client objectives with audience insights, platforms, formats, and distribution strategies.
  • Partner closely with the HearstMade Health & Fitness Director, marketing, sales, account management, editors, and other cross-functional teams to bring integrated branded content campaigns to life.
  • Serve as the strategic and editorial lead for health and fitness content from ideation through execution, managing multiple projects and timelines simultaneously.
  • Assign, brief, and manage freelance writers and creators, providing thoughtful editing, feedback, and guidance throughout the creative process.
  • Write, edit, package, and publish high-quality branded health and wellness content—including explainers, product roundups, athlete and patient profiles, and other editorial formats—that meets Hearst's editorial standards and client objectives.
  • Support campaign execution by ensuring consistency across writing, editing, packaging, review cycles, and final deliverables.
  • Navigate stakeholder feedback while balancing editorial integrity, audience engagement, and client expectations to successfully deliver complex branded content initiatives.

Qualifications (What We're Looking For)

  • 4+ years of experience in editorial, content strategy, branded content, digital publishing, or a related field, with a strong background in health, wellness, and/or fitness content.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative, insight-driven content strategies that translate business objectives into compelling storytelling.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and content packaging skills with a strong editorial instinct and attention to detail.
  • Deep understanding of digital content formats and social platforms, with strong knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, and evolving audience behaviors.
  • Experience managing freelance writers and creators, including briefing, editing, and overseeing revisions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate strategic recommendations and build alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience supporting branded content campaigns, RFP responses, client-facing initiatives, or custom content programs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with publishing CMS platforms, SEO and AEO best practices, ecommerce content, and production workflows is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • This is a hybrid role based in New York City, requiring 4 days per week in the office.

Benefits (What We Offer)

  • Work with the Best: Collaborate with top-tier professionals across media, advertising, tech, fashion, lifestyle, and publishing, shaping the future of these dynamic industries.
  • Grow Your Skills: Unlock your potential with access to innovative training programs, immersive workshops, and exclusive industry events.
  • Work-Life Harmony: Enjoy the flexibility of hybrid work, empowering you to balance professional success with personal priorities.
  • Foster Connection & Belonging: Join our Employee Resource Groups and help create a welcoming workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered.
  • Wellness First: Prioritize your well-being with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance from Day 1.

The base salary range for this role is $73,000–$85,000. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
