This 18-month contract is a senior First Line Compliance role that enables and supports the business to effectively manage regulatory requirements and change, in line with the Fund’s risk and compliance framework, as they pertain to the Finance Domain.

Your New Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the delivery of First Line compliance activities and advice for the Finance Domain and supporting the Senior Manager, Governance & Enablement – Operational Risk & Control.

Key duties include but not limited to;

  • Embed and own the regulatory compliance and monitoring program for the Finance Domain.

  • Monitor, review, interpret and assess obligation assessments, obligation changes and regulatory change assessments, including relevant controls intended to ensure regulatory obligations are met.

  • Review and assess the regulatory impact of Finance Domain incidents and facilitate responses and next steps as appropriate.

  • Facilitate the Finance Incident Review Group, including preparation of the agenda and reporting, meeting facilitation, recording decisions in the Fund’s Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) system and escalation of matters to the Fund’s Breach Reporting Panel.

  • Provide advice and support to the business on regulatory, control and compliance developments or issues applicable to the Finance Domain, providing practical risk-based solutions.

  • Act as the lead compliance SME for the Finance Domain where regulatory change is being operationalised through a regulatory change project or business initiative.

  • Lead regulatory compliance reporting and dashboard activity for the Finance Domain for the relevant Board and its Committees, senior management, advisory groups and Group Risk.

  • Leverage and apply AI and automation tools to enhance and drive efficiencies in risk and compliance management, processes and reporting.

  • Lead any response or support to the Finance Domain on change activities relating to or impacting the Fund’s compliance framework and / or systems within the GRC.

What You’ll Need

  • Hold an accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body like Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or Governance Institute of Australia (GIA), or be willing to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper.

  • Strong working knowledge and demonstrated ability to understand and translate external regulatory requirements and guidelines (within major financial institutions, custodians, superannuation funds or an insurance office) to shape business outcomes.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications such as B. Com, B. Fin, B. Law or equivalent, gained in Australia or overseas.

  • More than seven years’ post-graduate experience in relevant regulatory compliance from First or Second Line, professional services and advisory, or law.

  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills, supported by strong analytical, organisational and planning skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to partner with and present ideas, perspectives and issues to stakeholders at various levels.

  • Experience with leveraging and applying AI and automation tools to enhance risk and compliance management, processes and reporting.
