Job Description

About Us

At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

About the Role

As a Compliance and Conduct Risk Manager, you will be accountable for managing a Centre of Excellence within the First Line of Defence, shaping, embedding, and continuously uplifting specialist capability, standards, and practices that enable the business to deliver safe, compliant, and high‑quality outcomes.

Acting as a strategic partner to business and delivery teams, you will provide subject‑matter leadership across the end‑to‑end lifecycle of relevant risk, change, and capability themes. You will ensure alignment with enterprise frameworks, regulatory expectations, and organisational priorities, while driving consistency and maturity through clear ways of working, governed demand and prioritisation, and the sustainable adoption of new practices, tools, and insights. Through strong collaboration, influence, and coaching, the role builds capability, supports effective decision‑making, and strengthens risk culture and performance outcomes across the business.

Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.

Role Type: Permanent
Role Location: Suva, Fiji. Applications from candidates across the Pacific are welcome.
Work Hours: Full-time

What will your day look like?

As a Compliance and Conduct Risk Manager, you will

  • Manage the day‑to‑day performance of the Centre of Excellence, ensuring clear priorities, effective ways of working and alignment to organisational objectives.
  • Establish and maintain governance, standards and controls that support consistent, high‑quality outcomes across the COE’s remit.
  • Manage demand, intake and prioritisation to ensure work is appropriately scoped, sequenced and resourced.
  • Shape and embed specialist standards, methodologies and tools relevant to the COE, ensuring alignment with enterprise frameworks and regulatory expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in capability maturity, leveraging insights, lessons learned and best practice to uplift business performance.
  • Build and sustain communities of practice that promote knowledge sharing, consistency and professional excellence.
  • Act as a trusted partner to business, delivery and risk stakeholders, providing expert advice and guidance across the end‑to‑end lifecycle of relevant initiatives.
  • Influence decision‑making by translating complex requirements into practical, sustainable solutions that support business outcomes.
  • Collaborate across functions to enable effective adoption of new practices and ways of working.
  • Ensure activities within the COE are delivered in line with risk management frameworks, policies and regulatory obligations.
  • Identify, escalate and support the remediation of issues where standards, controls or practices are not operating effectively.
  • Provide oversight and assurance that change, capability or risk outcomes are embedded and operating as intended.
  • Manage, coach and develop COE team members, building capability, engagement and a strong performance culture.
  • Role‑model inclusive, ethical and risk‑aware behaviours, reinforcing accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Support talent development and succession planning to ensure sustainable capability for the future.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Strong knowledge of Centre of Excellence operating models, including governance, demand management, standards setting and capability uplift.
  • Sound understanding of enterprise risk management frameworks, policies and regulatory obligations relevant to the COE’s remit.
  • Knowledge of organisational change, delivery and/or capability frameworks, and how these are embedded sustainably across complex environments.
  • Understanding of how to operate effectively within a matrixed organisation, balancing enterprise consistency with business needs.
  • Proven ability to drive outcomes through influence, providing clear direction and guidance without direct authority over all stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex or technical concepts into practical, actionable advice.
  • Well developed analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to identify themes, assess maturity and prioritise improvement opportunities.
  • Effective people leadership skills, including coaching, capability development and fostering a strong performance and risk aware culture.

You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.
