About the Role

Support the AIA Macau Compliance Senior Manager to:

  • Oversee the Macau Compliance Function to ensure AIA Macau operates in accordance with the AIA Group policies, guidelines and local regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise subordinates on their daily roles & responsibilities where necessary.
  • Advise Line 1 on daily operations or business initiatives and Line 1.5 on governance and oversight expectations.
  • Collaborate with respective business stakeholders to effectively implement new law/guidelines/policies and to ensure continuous compliance with the Macau local regulatory requirements.

This role contributes to the delivery of customer outcomes that are reliable, thoughtful, and create meaningful impact for customers and society. The role holder is expected to embed a customer first mindset in all decisions and actions by developing a clear understanding of customer needs, taking end to end ownership to resolve issues, and working collaboratively across teams to continuously enhance the customer journey—both directly and indirectly.

AML Compliance Review & Monitoring (40%)

  • Oversight on the compliance with AML/CFT requirements; proactive and consistent execution of the AML/CFT compliance programme.
  • Monitor and supervise subordinates’ daily review & commentary on transactions, due diligence results, etc., provided to Line 1.
  • Oversight and ensure timely submission of AML filing such as Suspicious Transaction Reporting.
  • Collaborate with AIA Hong Kong Financial Crime Compliance team on internal adherence to law & regulation and Group standard on AML requirements and expectations.
  • Facilitate, and at times, lead, the implementation of appropriate standards or perform testing to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and fulfilment of the quality assurance program.
  • Preparation and review of regular AML reporting submitted to management including AIA HK Compliance, Group Compliance, AML Committee, and Audit Committee.
  • Provide solid and practical advice to Line 1 / business on AML requirements such as performance of KYC, due diligence, transaction monitoring.
  • Conduct regular review on the AML/CFT Standards/Operating Guideline, AML/CFT training program and materials.

Corporate Governance & Overall Regulatory Monitoring (30%)

  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to facilitate or lead the implementation of regulatory developments.
  • Work closely with all departments & functions of AIA HK & Macau to oversee the AIA Macau’s compliance with regulatory requirements and risk management requirements, and ensure timely reporting to management on potential or actual implications.
  • Proactively identify and address regulatory gaps or changes and perform impact analysis on the business operations;
  • Lead and supervise the periodic quality assurance reviews and sample checking on compliance requirements;
  • Review and advise on the preparation of regulatory communications in relation to intermediary misconduct reporting, incident reporting or complaint handling;
  • Regular review and oversight on the maintenance and/or timely update on regulatory filing records such as filing to Personal Data Protection Bureau (“DSPDP”), Cybersecurity Incident Alert and Response Centre (“CARIC”), etc.

Internal Control and Supervision (20%)

  • Coordinate and liaise with relevant parties on internal and external reviews;
  • Management and oversight of audits and incidents in relation to AIA Macau, monitor the resolution of all incidents and audit findings in accordance with incident reporting policy and related standards.
  • Oversight on internal control and governance on AIA Macau’s Authorized Contact Person with local regulators, record maintenance, management of third party service providers, etc.
  • Facilitate legal proceeding record maintenance and reporting.

Other Responsibilities (10%)

  • Handle ad hoc projects or assignments as required.
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Risk & Compliance management in order to meet operational and/or other requirements.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree holder or above, in appropriate field (e.g. Risk Management, Business Management, Audit, Insurance or Law) with at least 5 years solid work experience in the financial industry handling compliance, governance and controls, and at least 2 years in a supervisory level. Prior experience in Compliance is highly regarded;
  • In-depth understanding of the Insurance business preferred, or financial services/banking sector;
  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral;
  • Independent and able to work under pressure;
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented and analytical;
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, leadership, coaching and influencing skills; strong business acumen; effective change management skills; problem solving and decision making skills.
  • With high-level of integrity and takes ownership and accountability of results.
